As unbiased an opinion as I can give I have formed the view that this groups ceiling will never be reached under the current tenure. From leadership group, to coaching staff right through to administration.
Why?
Because the Board and the chairmen are backing in the culture of a salesmen and a marketing team and change is not on the cards because we dont have the balls to upset a few people at the club.
Caro is right. As a proud club who prides itself on being a family club- that is just a load of bullshit, a cover up for what it really is. A genuine boys club.
JB is in on it. Scott is. Crocks, D-Mac. That culture has filtered through to the playing group. Were all mates. We love coming to work. How goods this. Not one player is buying into what this clubs about. They just arent. And this is where we gotta ask ourselves, why?

No one trusts the leadership group when the heat is on. We turned to water so quickly yet we didnt give a yelp until a baking from the coach. It stuck out like dogs balls that if you deny us the pill and pressure us, youll beat us. Im amazed so many teams havnt figured this out yet. I mean the bottom side piled on 8 goals in 30 minutes. The same side who last week had 17 inside 50's for the match and had kicked 1 behind in a half and 3 goals for the game. You cannot defend that. Did we even have a scout over in Perth watch Rockliff get 45 touches and Hanley tagged? Yet we did the opposite and didnt learn the mistakes of last year. Comeon BF. You cant defend that oversight.

And this is where our issues go deeper however. Off field we just cant compete. Our draftees are so underdeveloped compared to Geelong and Hawthorn it is alarmingly obvious. We have a real issue in bringing on players from the time they leave the TAC cup. I dont understand why the club doesnt endorse past players in coming down and having a few chats with the boys and give them some tips. I mean McKenzie, Bastinac, Adams, Ziebell just so many clinks in their game that werent there when they were drafted.
And for that I cant pot the players development severely. Their effort yes, can them them all night. But even they must ask themselves where they would be had they gone to a Collingwood, Geelong or Hawthorn. If not for the development then atleast for the experience of learning off a star or gun player who is proven on the big stage.
We just dont have the manpower around the head coach so that all 45 on the list get the time of day to improve their game. Anyone who thinks we can compete with the big clubs in terms of off-field resources is kidding themselves. Equalisation is the only way we will ever see success. Which is a real shame. But if someone is willing to help THEN ****IN ASK THEM! I dont care who's ego gets hurt. Just do it.

In terms of the coach though. The white elephant that is Brad Scott. It is quite CLEAR NOW that the players are not buying into his message. His ethos. They just arent. This is a clear indictment on him as a person and an outright disgrace and embarrassment on the playing group. I believe Brad is a good coach but his manner of trust and belief and teaching doesnt cut it in the AFL. Tonight was the final straw. 5 years in and the players still dont listen. This is not good enough and a Fail.

As somone who tries to support the club and be positive and to try and never pot those who are trying hard, at the end of the day you cant reward failure.
I dont like the team weve become. There is nothing inspiring nor is the team befitting of playing on the MCG on Grand final day. Its not the good wins weve had that we should be applauding. Its the continual and repeated times the players piss on the club and the supporters with efforts like that.

ALL areas of the club must be reviewed post season. EVERYONE must come under the microscope.
We are paid up members who have PUT UP with a lot of shit in recent times. **** patience.
Itll be a damn shame on all their heads if they go out and beat Hawthorn. The respect comes with backing up a good performance with another good performance.

We all have ZERO belief in the players. We just dont know what effort is going to come and what mood they will be in. The fish rots from the head. What a shame this is what the North Melbourne footy club has become.

Walshy needs to sort this shit out post season. It is EXACTLY what he was brought in to do. Too much of a cluster **** to apply the sweep mid season.

Hawks could be a serious wake-up call for all involved.
I have flashbacks to the preseason game where they toyed with us by dominating possession and slicing through with accurate, short disposal and hard running.

Well said tazaa, the repetitive excuses of brad in press conferences has worn thin, with him tonight him pretty much admitting he is the problem by talking about player complacency when you planted that seed in there head at quarter time.
And no players will be dropped, we don't have stars in this team that deserve three spot without question, try something new brad this backslapping by all the board and coaches doesn't win you premierships

I hope Walsh is quietly keeping an eye on all operations around the club and all the individuals weve employed whose peformance isnt meeting the standard.
We employ him to do a job and I hope he is ruthless in his approach.

Hawthorn could be the straw that breaks the camels back. For a team so inconsistent in performance how does one make a stand? If everyone isnt on the same page it is not ludacrus to say that the club could go into freefall if performances like that continue and our injury toll gets worse. We could seriously do a * 2012 finish.

Either way there needs to be a shake up. Hard calls MUST be made. We already compete with one arm tied around our backs, but for as long as I can remember, this club fights. It stood for something. And we got results through hard work and a ruthless approach. That must count for something even in the day and age of modern day aussie rules.

Hope we get mopped the floor with next week because then there will be some serious questions asked. Buddy13 day did that for us. I hope something of the like happens. And don't be a ****ing bitch brad and swing the axe with the huge droppings of warren and brown. Make a statement you ****stick

Put in an effort like that next week and it will be a repeat of Buddy 13.

Rough-head 13?

They are a very disciplined and well drilled footy club, i fear what they will do to us.

I agree there are some worrying signs on and off field, some old and some new, some that should be easy fixes and some that probably aren't. The way I see it is that we have been slowly building on and off field for the last few years, end of season last year being the most obvious, where we acquired NDS, and a horde of off field personnel. That said, I do think I our approach needs to change.

I think the biggest issue now is that we committed to a long term rebuild several years ago, which has always been all the rage in this sport. Until now. Port Adelaide has thrown the spanner in the works for a half dozen clubs that have been slowly building, showing that it can literally happen in the blink of an eye. Suddenly the scrutiny of the media, and the supporters, goes up a hundred notches.

Personally I'm waiting until the end if this season, I think with all the changes we made over the off-season last year that there may well be a bit of latency with making substantial adjustments to the current approach of the club. I'm hoping, and expecting, for some more changes this year of a MUCH more pointed nature thanks to the sudden landscape-obliteration by Port, and our acquisition of Walsh.

Unfortunately It can be ever so slightly tricky to adjust playing lists, coaching rosters, and higher level managerial processes mid season, so I fear we have to
sit back and hope for the best in the meantime. And by the best I do mean a premiership. Because if the supporters can't/won't think of winning one this season, how can we expect the club to.

We will probably beat Hawthorn.

I would still be very surprised but it's the way it works at this club.

Beat Hawthorn then lose to the Saints, can see it happening.

Everybody's angry, but this is a really shit post. You're really hoping we get done next week?

Yep, this team is the epitome of casualness, softness and winning only on their terms. Can't remember in my 35 years following North seeing such a spineless bunch of players. We may had had shitter teams but we were no laughing stocks.
Totally correct we may have been shit in previous years but never considered a joke or people laugh at us..

Brilliant post tazaa and heart felt too.

Ive seen some shit sides run onto the paddock in 38 years of supporting the club i love, but never have i seen a more heartless outfit than this one. To be hunted by a pack of boys like tonight was utterly embarrassing and some serious questions need to be asked over the remainder of the season. Walshy has got some work ahead of him alright, but has he got the balls to make the big decisions?

I've got a bittersweet feeling about next week.

I feel like we rock up when we're playing a good side, we want to prove something when we have to e.g. Next week, meaning we'll probably win.

Other weeks we face teams around us or below us and it just looks like we're going through the motions, like a half assed effort will get the job done. Reality is against the bad sides, yes. Against the sides around us, no. And against the good sides, god help us if we bring that s***.

Anyway my point is, we've been made out to be better than we actually are, so we just don't rock up. I might be an optimist but I honestly don't think it's a lack of ability. We've all seen what we can do it isn't magic that it's happened.

For some reason I feel like tonight could be the ultimate wake up call. Finally it's come unstuck against a really really poor side. You can bake me for being optimistic, but it's more of just a belief, because I've seen it before, we just aren't this bad.

IMO It's simply a case of treating every opponent the same, whether that happens, who knows.

I think a lot of faith was lost tonight. What are we doing?

If our season were a play it would be Death of a Salesman. Just tremendously sad. We're such a superficial team.
