Just having an argument on Goodes. Where do you guys think he is at the moment. Ie top 5, top 10, top 20 players in the league

this is not a troll, just trying to sort out an argument.

There aren't many players who can match Goodes at his best, and he was very consistent in 2011. I'd say still top 5.

Number 1!!!!!!!!!!!

Ruckman - Ruck rover - CHF.
Can and has run over all comers in any number of positions like no other in the league. FACT FFS!
Under sold by his own - out politeness. Dress him in a Pies prison bar strip and would be an immortal.
Better allrounder than Ian Botham or K.Rudd could have ever hoped to be.

It's hilarious/scary that he has just turned 32 and is still the fastest at our club in the 20m sprint... against the likes of Rohan and Jetta!

He still has a 3rd Brownlow left in him if he has a good year. Top 5 - 10 player.

lol, good points Mr Fu, at any other club he would be rated even higher.. Yeah number 1 for me...:thumbsu:

top 5 if I took my blinkers off, but Im not gonna..

He's top 5 easily imo.

I have Ablett as #1, probably Judd at #2 based on consistency and Goodes coming in 3rd as he's been inconsistent at times during his career, but when he's on he can blow apart a game like few others. Swan doesn't have as much class imo, and Pendles is still too young but is definitely on his way up. Buddy is right up there, but it's hard to judge because they play different positions. Goodes is a better forward than Buddy is a midfielder, so I'd take Goodes on versatility but most people would take Buddy ahead of Goodes in a heart beat.

Just out of curiosity, what was the argument with your mate?

Most neutral observers had him in their top 10 players based on last season alone so he's still definitely top 10, arguably top 5.

And what argument can be sorted out by peoples opinions, after all they are just opinions? The only argument that I can see being won or lost here is whether Swans supporters still rate Goodes, which we do - highly!

He had him top 3 i had him top 10

I think it depends on whether you place more importance on the absolute best a player can produce or their consistency. For me, there are five players (I can think of off the top of my head) who, when they are "on", are almost impossible to stop and who are capable of having a huge impact on a game - Ablett, Swan, Goodes, Buddy and Judd. The first three are particular standouts because they do it in front of goal as well as in the midfield, whereas Buddy's main impact (to date) has been in front of goal and Judd's around the ground.

Where Goodes falls down slightly in comparison to the others is that he doesn't do it quite as consistently as the other four - especially Ablett and Swan (for the past two seasons).

Any Swans fan knows that if Goodes plays his best footy then more often than not we will win. No matter the opposition. I have seen goodes play the best football of any player in any age admittedly most times only five minutes but those five minutes win a game if he sustained it for all four quarters he would be the greatest player of all time.

he is comfortably in the top 10 for me. he should be placed in the 3-8 bracket somewhere depending on who you talk to and where they place their importance in what they look at in a player. but you'd be hard pressed to find a more damaging and versatile player than goodes for all the positions he can play to a really high level. anyone who has him outside the top 10, doesn't watch him enough.

Given my BF username I may seem slightly biased, however I don't think I have ever seen a player as unique a Goodesy. He is so damn dynamic and flexible. And as has been mentioned, to be that good a playre in so many different positions on the ground deserves a top 10 of the current players at the very very least. Top 5 more than likely. Top 3 when he is "on". Top 1 when you bleed red & white... :thumbsu:
