I used to post on this board quite regularly for me and then I noticed something odd about the whole Big Footy site.

It is not suitable for grumpy old men such as myself. I love being a grumpy old man because it offers me the excuse to be as politically uncorrect as I want to be. I am at an age where none of the crap that goes on in today's world affects me. I don't give a rat's toss bag as that traitor MB once said whilst the players made him look good by winning 2 flags. I digress! The law according to this site is never say ANYTHING remotely that may offend the resident rich people's sons and daughters who never cease to go on about their latest jaunt overseas etc. One must never in any case dare to cross one of the resident gurus, we should be abasing ourselves at their feet and not questioning their judgements.
I made one post in the last 6 months and I forget what was said now but it was really really innocous by the standards these same young people openly speak in the street, house, bus, taxis, pubs,clubs, you get the idea. I used to enjoy the ideas thrown around at one stage and the banter between other teams fans, alas no more it has all gone. No, we are no longer allowed to have any sort of discussion unless it follows strict "guidelines". Oh dear! I guess this really does let me out because quite frankly I don't care and if I want to call someone a useless bastard I won't bother because it will upset the poor little mods that have turned this site into a gulag anyway.
I just wish some people would take a stand and tell the whole stupid world to get lost and start again because this world is truly ****ed by anyone's standards.

On that note this grumpy old man will leave for good.

Just some clarification Ozzie, if you are ever confused about how many posts you made etc you can click on your user name and select "find more posts by Ozzie" as an option.

Actually you made 14 You also received a warning in November from a mod about a post and again made the one post claim, this time in respect to 2 years posting history, did you forget about the other 49 posts you made in that time period? I was bored this morning so I decided to count them. One of those posts also said that I know about football - that was nice, thank you.

Interesting that you tried to edit your post taking out what you considered swear words, I fixed them up and only one of the three that you thought might be 'bad' words was actually bad. Maybe this site isn't as pc as you think. I think it has a PG rating now and not the G that it was originally.

Personal abuse would not be welcome in the real world, just as it is not welcome here. If that makes me some rich people's daughter (my parents would be happy to hear that *looks around for those bags of cash they apparently have*) in your eyes, oh well.

but just playing devils advocate for a second..........both here and in your real world, how would you normally react to being called a useless bastard ? You strike me as a "no nonsense" kind of person.......surely you would react if someone was to fire a verbal insult at you......as would I.....as would most people.....

Then what's the next step ?

You fire back - only human nature - understandable..... ....I'd probably fire a volley questioning genetic makeup, parentage, choice of sexual partners from the broader animal kingdom.

Next step?

Usually something that involves expletives.....and so the whole thing escalates to the point where we are following each other around the site with our eyes on the man not the ball....and before you know it we are reacting to each others every word in a prejudged manner that really makes the site unappealing for established posters, casual visitors, and inappropriate for minors.

Solution:

Remove the first post and warn the user.

It saves a lot of heartache and time for everyone.

Hmmm...speaking as this boards' probably oldest and grumpiest old b*stard, I don't find it all that PC and I reckon there's still enough cut and thrust to make it interesting. Springchoke's onto something when he opines that we shouldn't take it too seriously. Footy's a game. Different like chalk & cheese to when I played, but I've adjusted and continue taking the medication so I can still enjoy.
Speaking of enjoy. Let's. 3rd on the ladder. 6--3 and with great selection dilemmas coming up in the next few weeks. Even I find it difficult to be too grumpy given the circumstances.

As RL said - it was upgraded but set all the profiles to default. It is being looked into and should be rectified soon.

Afternoon all...

flew back from Melbourne last night and couldn't be bothered logging on.

Had a great weekend apart from the little matter regarding a football game against Melbourne.........and haven't they all jumped on the Melbourne bandwagon over there.....

As NikkiNoo said - there's been an upgrade to the software and all the settings have reverted to the defaults.

It will get sorted over the coming day or so.
