Players better hope details never emerge. If it does and they weren't literally tortured they will be a laughing stock

Still whinging about the camp years on then it comes out 'we had to camp in the rain' or something equally as weak; be good to know we got rid of those soft players.

That attitude will kill a club in the present time, you are drafting and managing millenials and you depend upon them for on-field success. That attitude does not fly anymore, you can complain about the goodoledays all you want but the reality is they are gone.

Agree, but I think an exercise involving grabbing your teammates' privates would not have flown any better 30, 40, 50 or even a hundred years ago. It's just plain wrong and would affect a group of men in a bad way in any generation. The only difference is, nowadays, people won't sit back and take it or stay silent.

Nah, your right..
They run home and tell mummy to ring the radio station.

Not sure what other people have mentioned, up until this point, but apparently the players’ bus was held up at gunpoint, with them being pulled out of the bus, blindfolded, and forced to lay face down on the ground with threat of being shot

No idea where this came from, originally, so is likely false

Well it worked for the Saints - Dawson allegedly grabbed Reiwoldt’s knob and they made a Grand Final.

Perhaps the Crows just got the wrong advisers ?.

They weren’t tortured obviously, but they were treated like they were being interrogated for murder. From what I know, most of the players just found it a bit weird and kept thinking ‘we only lost a GF, we didn’t kill anyone!’.

Outside of Eddie, none of them had lingering effects from the camp. All they wanted is for the people responsible for organizing it to go, and that was Burton and Pyke.

That didn’t happen. As I said above, they did go through some weird interrogation thing that was aiming to strip them of any prior mental demons (such as losing the GF).

That happened to soldiers that my brother was training in Iraq. Maybe not the blindfold bit, but they were all shot.

It breaks a lot of trust in the system though. If you have ever worked for an otherwise sound company that fell into the hands of bad admin you’d know that even once they are gone and good people are running it the rank and file will look at things with a very jaded eye for some time.
The old saying is along the lines of trust being something that takes years to build and a moment to destroy.

The players were blindfolded and stood next to one another. Each player had to hold the penis of the player to the left of them. Absolutely bizarre.

I can categorically put this ridiculous players holding each others tallywackers rumour to rest.

Yes the players were naked and they were blindfolded but they were paired up facing each other and asked to bond by hugging each other and telling each other a little about themselves. Nothing unusual with this I hear you say.

Sauce Jacobs was paired up with Eddie Betts and everything would have been okay but for the fact that Sauce is right into the kinky stuff and was really excited. As Eddie opened his mouth and said "I'm Eddie Betts and I can do anything" they made contact in all the wrong ways.

Yes a little awkward, but it would have all died down pretty quickly but for the fact Brett Burton had actually filmed the incident. We all know that Adelaide's 2018 season didn't go to plan and they had some really bad losses. Burton in his infinite wisdom would delight in playing the video during the match review after these losses to try and lift the team spirit.

I'm no fan of Brett Burton, but I'm open minded about whether this video should have been aired in this way. Apparently the boys loved it but unfortunately it didn't help with their performance. I think it's fair to say that Edie and Sauce's form really dropped off during the year.

They were asked to talk about their deepest darkest demons. For players who had never really been through anything that bad, that is fine. For players who have experienced actual trauma - like childhood abuse - that is going to have a seriously detrimental effect on them, given that it wasn't done in an actually professional, therapeutic environment. Not about players being 'soft', just about an incredibly unprofessional approach to potentially serious matters that are best left to qualified professionals in the right setting. In the old days, stoicism was predominant, and so there would never have been an invasive push to have people talk and be scrutinised about things from their past that are best left alone.

The fall out from the camp continues.

It is known the Edwards family was concerned with aspects of the post-2017 season Crows camp, which was attended by Luke’s older brother Jackson and which was the cause of major fallout and a breakdown of trust between the playing group and club staff.”

I laugh that crow fans and their ambassadors keep peddling this line even in the face of facts. Players keep coming out and saying they had massive problems with it. Why do you keep pretending it was one person who had an issue with it?

why does your club feel the need to vilify everyone who leaves your club. Why is it always “their” fault. We saw this as far back as Tippett (who crows fans blame for their salary cap cheating).

Facts from the trustworthy media? Haha I’ve spoken to a player who went to the camp directly about it, I don’t read what the media say. I decided to post what I heard from them about it.

Some indigenous players who went on the camp had a problem with it (hopefully that’s general enough for you), what other players have spoken about it? I wasn’t having a go at Eddie either, I love the bloke. Blaming Tippett for the salary cap breach? Ah, the only person constantly bagged for that was Trigg.

Have you bothered to read the actual quotes in that article? Jackson didn’t even go on the camp. The Edwards family are pissed off at the Crows for other reasons, mainly because they think nominating Jackson FS before the draft impacted on him being scouted by other clubs. In reality, he couldn’t get a game in the VFL and has now come back to Glenelg to try and crack it in the SANFL.

Read the quote from his manager in the article, not the headline.

so you’re running with the fake news angle? Carn.

you’re saying one bloke had a problem, now you’re saying one group?

off the top of my head betts, Hampton, Ellis colmen all had problems with it. trying to nitpick and decide who has “lingering effects” is also bizarre.

I’m baffled how there are still crows fans defending this thing.

And yeah, Tippett copped widespread criticism, in fact the brunt of it, from your board and your media ambassadors at the time for the salary ****up.

Jackson wasn’t on the camp

Fake news? I just said I spoke to a player directly about it. Indigenous players had an issue with one aspect of the camp, yes this is true. CEY actually had his best couple of seasons with us after the camp, whereas Eddie’s form declined as age creeps up on him. Hampton retired due to injury issues.

The only lingering effects were having to see Burton at the club for the next 2 years, that’s what pissed off players. He should’ve been sacked as soon as this came out mid 2018, that’s the biggest mistake the club made.
