Don't worry every one of those posters is Dean Laidley in disguise. They have blamed our dance girls, our weather, our oval and no our radio station for their loss. BTW tell them to refer to the advertiser/5aa boycott thread!

I don't think it's designed to make Adelaide look like a basketcase - just 5AA and I think even most Adelaideans (see your boycott thread) agree! :)

(BTW - For what it's worth, I'm inclined to actually agree somewhat with Crowmosone - As a Roos fan I don't like it but the radio call is designed for Adelaide Crows supporters not people like me) I also think KG is very excitable and half the time can't help himself.

As I said on the Roos board - I've actually heard the 5AA team do some excellent interviews with players from the Roos and other interstate clubs which have been totally respectful and unbiased - they even wish them well for the game at the end of the interview. It's only in the excitement of the call, they lose it - it seems.

I listened to the Geelong V Port game through the net on K - Rock and they were exactly same towards Geelong.

I have said my piece before that I hate biased comments and cheering from commentators or reporters, hence why I dont listen to 5AA telecasts unless there is no other alternative.

there aint much wrong with what that thread said, KG and co are painful at times, Rowey is always painful and very difficult to listen to. I prefer commentary with a touch of bias, but the guy is right their commentary is blatant supporting, which is nice, but doesnt come across well on the radio. When they realise they are being put into other states they should atleast tone it back a little, as it is all for show anyway.

come on youve got to agree with those roos fans

i mean it just wouldnt be football if there wasnt a pro melbourne flavour to the commentary

i suppose we had kevin bartlett barricking/commentating against us again?

I started that thread on the 'Roos board, and I don't care who it is or where it is.
I just want commentating, not barracking.
I want someone to paint a picture of what is happening, otherwise they may as well just hide the mic under a seat in the outer.
Wasn't just the one game on the weekend either, it was pretty similar (not quite as blatant though) in the other game I listened to.
It's my pet gripe...the standards have gone through the floor in recent years...too many blokes being rewarded for being stupid on air.

answer = clone commetti

They are entitled to their opinion as much as 5AA is entitled to call a game in the way they see fit. I dont know about your radio, but mine has this little "dial" thing on the side that allows me to change the station; and through the miracle of modern technology , you can actually listen to it on other stations ; eg ABC , TripleM etc. Now wouldnt it be extremely boring if all broadcasts used the same monotone , sit on the fence, emotionless calls of the game?

what continually annoys me about Adel radio is they complain about how biased the commentators are toward the Melb teams. Sick to death of hearing biased calls by Adel commentators then complaining about the biasedness of Melb calls.

5AA is the worst by far.

Excellent post and you are spot on.

5AA do not hide from the fact that they are broadcasting to the majority and majority of their listeners are Crows or Port supporters.

I got no problem with radio broadcasts being biased. I got no problem with 6PR being biased towards eagles and dockers supporters because its their market. However, I do have a problem with TV broadcast being biased because they are broadcasting to the National audience.

Its funny, cos when u listen to 3AW calls or any melbourne broadcasted radio you rarely get any news on Adelaide or any callers talking about the Crows which, is expected as the majority of victorians would not follow the crows, power eagles whatever.

But to hear them go on about how biased 5AA are is very funny. When I was in melbourne 10 days ago, I did not ONCE hear anything about the Crows. Even on the news when I point out, they posted the players (ins and outs) for the week for every team bar Adelaide, Port, Eagles and Dockers.

I was also fortunate (or unfortunate) to go to the adelaide bulldogs game and listening the post-match commentary on the radio did not hear one thing about Adelaide. So I supposed it goes both ways

And it's a good discussion over there on your board. Thank's for starting it and thanks for visiting.

Scotty, who do you think does a good job? Who are your best tv/radio and press callers and commentators?

What do you expect. 5AA are broadcasting predominantly to Adelaide. It is a parochial call, and most Crows suppporters want that. If you can't handle it, don't listen. If that's all you can get, blame your local station not Adelaide's

disagree john.

All they are doing is serving up what the audience wants, not catering to the persecution complex of a minority.

When in rome...

I agree.

While I often find some of them embarrassing at times (as so-called representatives of SA), their wages are effectively paid by Crows and Port fans who give them winning ratings. They are the number 1 rating station when it comes to calling games so the public must at least prefer them to other stations. ABC try to be the impartial commentators and they seemingly have the smallest fan base.

The number of Kanga's fans listening to that coverage would barely be in the hundreds. And 5AA is a business, not a community service. That's what the ABC is for.

Well, I have to agree that 5AA is an SA station, and they have every right to be "biased". Even though I can't stand half the tossers who call the footy on that station, I can't help but enjoy the commentary sometimes. Frankly for entertainment value they make Rex Hunt look like ... I dunno, someone very unfunny :)

At the same time, I cringe at the thought that their broadcasts go nationwide :o Perhaps 3AW needs an alternative set of callers for the national broadcasts!
