Our forward line structure:

Meeson or Watts Welsh Burton
Hentschal Perrie Goodwin/Thompson

If Perrie isn't performing, McGregor to CHF, Trent to CHB and Perrie to the Bench.

Drop Welsh & Perrie, start Hentshel in defence and move him forward. Put in S and M Stevens and possibly Watts or Jericho.

Welsh is really starting to give me the ********s and must learn that the team can do without him so a few weeks in the sanfl wouldn't go astray.

I would give both Meesen and Watts more time before playing them in the team. They need more experience at SANFL level, especially given their lack of strength at this stage. I doubt they are physically ready for AFL yet.

We must persist with the players we have, and that includes the likes of Perrie, Welsh, etc. I would like to see Kenny given a go at CHF, especially if Perrie isn't performing against the Roos. Perhaps a forward role for Kenny could spark some form into him?

Trent should start in the forward line but he played terribly last night. We must persist with him and if he maintains his poor form in front of the goals, move him to CHB and switch with Kenny as you suggested.

Given Thommo's lack of fitness I wouldn't mind seeing him play most of his gametime in the forward line. He's got a great knack for scoring goals and he can take a good mark as well as enforcing great defensive pressure.

If Mark Stevens has another good one then we bring him in. Shirley must come back in if fit and apparently both Burton and Hart will play.

So 4 ins and we need to come up with 4 outs. Begley and Massie can have a rest for starters.

If you move Kenny to CHF who do you have to cover talls in Kanga's forward line. Rutten and who else. I think Petrie injured himself yeaterday BUT they still have Rocca and Thompson both of whom had very good games yesterday.

Let Kenny play at CHB. We have a very good backline so why unsettle it. Moving him forward would be robbing peter to pay paul.

Is it time for Scott Stevens to come into our side, either as an extra tall target up forward or as a spare tall down back? Bit of a strawgrasper, but his versatility is looking attractive at the minute.

In the meantime, if only we could splice Stevo and Perrie's positive attributes.

Hentschel. :)

His versatility would definetly be appealing at the moment. His form has been pretty solid with the magpies. If Bassett misses with an apparent injury then Scott Stevens would be the one I would bring in to replace him.

Our likely changes at this point are:

Out: Grima (shoulder reconstruction) and Petrie (badly sprained ankle)

In: Rawlings and McIntosh

McIntosh has been doing well in the VFL for us so far, will see how he goes today. He has been threatening to take Petrie's spot for a while now.

And how does that dvelop Hentschel as a forward, a position we need him to play for us down the track?

Fair point, but so far throughout the season Hentschel has spen a fair bit of time in defence. His game against Sydney just screamed "defender" and whilst I think HFF is his best position, it certainly wouldn't kill Trent nor us to use him in defense whilst we try to get Kenny kicking goals or at least getting into some form.

In reply to DT, Torney should be given the job on Jones, Rutten on Sav (should be able to match pace and to some extent strength) and Hentschel/McGregor/Bassett on Thompson. I reckon Thompson could be a danger for us so we must use height, leaving McGregor or a ruckman as the most likely option.

I definitely think that Trent's best position is up forward, but agree that giving him some time in defence wouldn't hurt him.
I think I've heard somewhere that a lot of forwards have often been played in defence in the early part of their careers  :o

If and when S Stevens comes back into the side IMO it will be as a backman - we'll need to be desperate for him to be considered a forward option.

Someone on this board said it but it was debunked as made-up.

Maybe someone did say it on here. but I'm pretty sure that I heard it on the Sunday Footy Show at some stage as well. I guess that doesn't necessarily mean that it's true though

The Crows are gonna have to be at their very best to beat the Kangaroos next week.

I mean their very best.

We don't mind coming to AAMI, great stadium to play football on. We have a 6-6 record vs the Crows and 2-1 vs Port there.

I do not think we have been playing all that fantastic but have been playing out games pretty well, haven't lost a last quarter and have won most of them quite convincingly. Crows should be pretty confident at home, should be a cracker of a game, look forward to it.

If McIntosh is included you would want to have three good tall defenders. He will be hard to play on, 203cm, 101kg and pretty good overhead. The lack of any video on him will also be a problem for team planning. Wouldn't be surprised if someone from the Crows stayed back today to have a look at him during the VFL game today.

If Petrie makes it and plays it will be much better for the Crows. He is not in good form. I think he is suffering from McKernanitis. :p

Hale will more than likely be the other problematic tall. He did very well against Spider Everitt, had more hit outs to advantage and also capable of going forwards, a very good kick for goal aswell. He troubled the hawks as they were a bit short down back.

The midfield matchups will be very interesting, Simpson is re-living the past and has gone back to a tagging role this year. Our midfield is far more defensive than it was last year. With Rawlings, Simpson and Firrito in the midfield they will probably try and hold up the Crows running players.

Your right, AMMI Stadium is no longer the feared ground it once was for the interstate clubs of the early 90s.

Your record there is very out-standing, you could almost call it your home ground away from home.

Wish Crows had an alternative ground, I thought Telstra Dome would be the key, but now recently in a year their performance in has dropped there.

our record at AMMI Stadium is not too flash anymore, either so, ill give that game 50/50 whereever its played.

I still think Jericho could be brought in this week - form forwards seem to be our problem - could we drop welsh ???

S and M stevens could also be brought in - we need forwards who can take a contested mark and kick goals which isn't happening , Hentshcel if we are going to play him back needs to be on HBF giving him the ability to run off his man and make attacking plays - why waste the talent he has being a negative backman ? it was like making mattner be a tagger !!!!

We will have to be very sharp against the roos. Maybe i would bring either scott or mark stevens in. Burton will help and so will Hart. We need to have 3 genuine defenders as McIntosh is very highly rated.

OK this might sound as arrogant BUT I just feel a lot more comfortable about this game than I did about the Bulldogs.

At this early stage I am tipping Adelaide to bounce back and win :)
Agreed only on the basis IMO Kangas are not a 6-0 side ;)

Unlike last week, I think we are some chance to win this game, however I am concerned that the Kangas, despite their 5-0 start to the year, have yet to really play their best football, and put together 4 quarters of consistent quality.

I have a feeling they could decide to unleash it this week, in a match that by all rights they should be favourite but will probably be even money.

Their captain said they wanted respect, and after recording somewhat 'expected' victories over lower-ranked sides in the past two weeks, I reckon they'll come out all guns-a-blazing on Saturday to prove their win streak and position on the ladder is no fluke.

And just like last night, I don't think we'll have an answer.
