Adelaide's form is clearly very good, but is the media build up that's started in the last couple of weeks right? Is it good for us?

Yes, we've won five in a row but look at the opposition.

St Kilda - Not exactly setting the world on fire.

Western Bulldogs - Clearly fairly weak in defence and a fringe 8 team, although their form is on the rise.

Geelong - Ultimately lost to Roo or their own kicking rather than Adelaide, then went on to lose to the Kanga's by 10 goals. Perhaps the wheels have fallen off and they will not make the 8.

Sydney - Form has improved but ultimately they are still low on the ladder.

Essendon - A shadow of the monster of 2000, a shadow of early in 2002 for that matter.

I think we'll beat Port this week but let's face it, the team we play on Sunday won't be the real Power deal.

I personally wish we were playing Brisbane at the Gabba in the next couple of weeks to get a true indication. We are clearly in good touch, but let's hope the lads don't listen to their own reviews.

There are still five games to play and win before we get the GF, the media has us there already. Garbage.

Could not agree more.

This weekend against Port will be a good test for us. Even though they have players out through injury and suspension, it will still be a good tight contest.

I think the real test for us will be Fremantle in the last round. We should win that comfortably if we are to be any threat in September.

Our current form is good, but not great. The forward line still worries me. Midfield not so much, as we have some depth and can cover Riccuito and Goodwin (well, the players taking their spots aren't as good as them, but more than adequate). Defence is looking good with Smarty and Ben Hart doing their usual great job.

Should be a great match on Sunday - have been looking forward to this one for ages!

Cheers!

Agreed, Freo in Round 22 has shades of West Coast in Round 22 1998, it was a make or break game for us and showed we still had what it takes in terms of playing quality opposition away from home.

Freo are similar, they've still only dropped one game to an interstater at home. It will speak volumes.

Adelaide

St.Kilda 18 points
Bulldogs 43
Geelong 3 points
Sydney 18 points
Essendon 48 points

Port

Sydney 3
North -29
Melbourne 4
St.Kilda 48
Carlton 9

Undoubtedly Adelaide has the better form coming into SD12 but Adelaide have been up and down a bit aswell, Geelong, Sydney and St.Kilda were poor performances.

I would say if both teams are at their peaks the Port would win by 4 or 5 goals but neither of the sides will be at their peak so it will be an interesting match.

Whereas I would say that despite hype to the contrary Port have never at any stage this season been four or five goals better than Crows, and if bothe teams were at their peak it would be an ineteresting match & even contest.

However ... neither side is at it's peak. I'd guess Crows are closer to that peak that Port are.

Crows by 4 goals is my guess for SD12 ... but given the vagaries of form by either side, this could be way out.

Port were clearly better side a couple of months ago (probably the best in the competition), but with injuries, suspensions, etc they are not travelling as well now. We are travelling a bit better at the moment, but if Goody & Roo miss, that evens things heaps. Port will lift for the showdown, no matter who they have on the park.
