Trading Martin would be one from left-field. It's not something I've seen mentioned before. Wouldn't have much trade value, would he?

Sorry, Trade IN.

We trade in a player to replace Martin.

Another one gooooooone..........

from my work yesterday, we were all blindsided and did not see it coming!

I'm hoping we don't get sucked in to trading into a ruckman if it costs either of our first two selections. I'm sure the Club doesnt share the same hysteria as some do here about the need for a costly ruck trade. Yes we need back up in the ruck, but if everything is going according to plan, Sauce and JJ play every game, and the backup doesn't play a game. No point in trading for a player that is not part of our First 22 plans. If we jag a delisting or can swap a low pick or something - then fair enough. But Sauce and JJ would always play ahead of Giles if you really think about our forward line set up. Why would Giles want to continue his career in the SANFL ?
Is this THE Mad Dog, I mean THE Mad Dog, I mean THE ex-moderator Mad Dog??? Always enjoyed reading your posts!

Ease up. He shared that we were 'into' some players (I think.. happy to have the evidence prove me wrong). Having talks with someone like a JC is far from meaning its a done deal.

And as I said before, having talks with someone like JC is far from abnormal. The expectation set by the "info" provided by redhorse more than suggested than an offer would be made, and that it would be made in this trade period - while there's plenty of water to go under the trade week bridge yet, the chances of us making an offer to GWS look remote at best.

My sentiments exactly.

And given Boyd hadn't thrown his toys out of his cot when redhorse released his intel, it's fair to say the landscape has definitely changed up there since.

redhorse

Why u lie to us?

We trusted you, we had faith

Really?

100% faith in redhorse. Just because JC hasn't signed doesn't mean it was because he doesn't want to.

Exact same situation as Boyd. 1 year to run on his contract. To me it looks like they've been trying to keep this quiet until we have the assets to get it done. Saves face for everyone in case it doesn't go through.

Redhorse said it before, we'd require a third party. Now he's confirmed it was to improve our picks.

I still hope we can get 5 off Collingwood or 3 off Melbourne.

Do we see any of these players being moved on in the next 2 days?
Luke Thomson, serviceable against collingwood but his other games meh
Brodie Martin, been on the list quite some time, been 3yrs since acl. Between him and Lyons I chose Lyons.
Sam Shaw, best friends with the medical staff, not enough time on the field could be his downfall.

That's a good point re Martin & Lyons. Maybe the club wants to keep just one, and are giving Lyons the choice first (stay or trade).

Noble rubbished the suggestion that we were after Cameron before the Boyd news came to light.

The landscape has changed - more bullshit.

From my count there are 93 players comp wide with contracts expiring in 2014 that haven't re-signed (excluding rookies). Some are definitely on the move (Robinson, Membrey, Jaksch, T.Hunt). Nice List Bacon8

Its interesting all the players we are linked too (minus the BIG fish) like Cheany, Lowden, Downie, Mcdonough are all uncontracted, I hope that we pay peanuts for these guys if we do trade any of them in, as they are likely to be de-listed (minus Lowden) we have played the nice guy for far too long, like Gunston to Hawks, (you think the hawks owe us one here, or are they holding a grudge over Darren Jarmen still?).

And if any truth that Freo asked for our 2nd rounder for Griffen, they are a joke, after all we did them and Griffen a favour and sent him for a 4th rdr when he was younger and held a touch more value.

Wouldn't mind crows asking the question of Dean Towers, don't know much about him but from memory he has speed. The other on that list is Brad McKenzie, an SA kid and I believe was drafted at approx 19 and was rated best kick in that draft yr just a bit better then Grigg. Both lack opportunity at their current clubs and shouldn't cost too much salary wise and trade wise.

I never believed we'd get Cameron.

But you don't think things changed at Bankstown when Boyd spoke out?

In fact you could make an argument that the Boyd situation should actually help our endeavours to obtain Cameron. If both say they want out, they're probably going to place a higher priority on keeping Boyd given the massive question marks over Patton.

I dunno. Given Boyd's manager has said he's going no matter what, then you put your time into Cameron.
