After hearing what Geelong fans have said is rather give him a miss. Sounds like they tried him as a defender because he failed as a forward. Then failed in defense.
Where did you hear that? Very interesting if true would love us to throw a massive offer at him!
They're pretty shocked about Hamling though. I know he's a tall, and from what the Geelong fans are saying it looks like he'd been playing as a tall defender. Has anyone seen him play? Would he worth picking up?

I suspect we've gone from
"clubs ruling over everything like tyrants"
to
"players running the asylum"
which will continue for a while yet, before the pendulum swings back. This will be the interesting part, since the players will finally begin turning on each other. Clubs with strong cultures will last the longest, as the players will be bred to understand TEAM first.
The Crows are keen on Downie if he gets delisted. Maybe as a rookie. Otherwise I think we are keen to draft in for the rest of our spots. Few good options there though.
They'll both be on the same wage next year (initial draftee wage) - so expect Bonts to get a reasonable packet the year after.
Downie is contracted though. Will just have to wait and see...why is the draft so damn far away?!

Bonts has already extended his contract and set a wage after his draftee wage years. This is the contract they want to renegotiate.
Every single player is going to want a pay rise after a guy that is yet to fire a shot is raking in a mill a year. Not going to end well.

I probably wouldn't use this as evidence for why you deserve a pay rise. Unless the Bulldogs are bidding for your services and your willing to go.
Anyone know what is happening with our list manager? I don't expect anything to happen before the draft but anyone got any info?

Yes I understand, but what I'm saying is they are both on their 2nd year of their initial draftee contract next year which is a fixed contract determined by the AFL. So next year all will be equal, however 2016 is where the problem begins...and that's 12 months away...a lot of time for players to uproar!

The issue I have is that our list isn't that good. If we have another bad run of injuries - we aren't getting any where near top 4.
Whats the point of Martin coming in as depth if we have a host of injuries? Maybe by using players like Martin we will finish 10th instead of 12th?

I would rather finish 10th than 12th. If Martin is good enough alone to win us two games, then he's a keeper. Costs us nothing, and after his first consistent year. let's see how he goes under Walsh first.

I don't see why not?
We have the (hypothetical) 150k that we need to use this year. Why waste it on Martin if we are going to delist him at the end of 2015 (a year in which we won't be contending for a flag).
Thats exactly how you manipulate the salary cap to ensure we have enough money to keep Danger, Sloane, Tex.

Actually it could make it easier for some teams. If more players start demanding max dollars to stay, then teams will have less room in their cap to bring in a big name.... and Cameron
