Recently read on the AFC website that we won't be elevating any rookies. Anyone suprised by this. I must admit from the little I have seen of McIntyre and Archard, i'm surprised we even listed them. Neither has pace or aggression and from what I could see, no special tricks.

Thoughts.

Are you for real dude?

Mcintyre should have gone in the national draft and I have seen Archard at south and he is a deadset gun.

You’re just trying to get a reaction out of someone right?

I have not seen Greg Gallman or James Turner play so I cannot comment.

I will be extremely surprised to see Rhys Archard elevated unless we have an excessive amount of midfielders injured at the same time, good player at SANFL level but not sure if he has what it takes to make it at the next level.

Andrew McIntyre should be elevated before the end of the season or at the end of the season ready for next year as he is a likely replacement for Nathan Bassett in a few years. If his forms warrants it and we need a defender he will be elevated that week he gets a game.

I see no reason to elevate a player from the rookie list to the senior list before they are needed.

 So you agree with me, none of our rookies deserve elevation.

The old "they shouldn't have been taken in the national draft but amazingly slipped to the rookie list" draft. I think out of the two, McIntrye seems the more likely to be a player. I see him and John Hinge MAYBE fighting it out for the Bassett or Hart type role in the next few years.

Am I surprised we aren't promoting then until they are picked in the 22? No! We have never done that before so why should this year be different.

And please Springy can you just let go of this obsession with aggression. You sound like this kid that was bullied in school and now thinks that aggression is a pre-requisite to anything.

Archard I have question marks about in terms of long term future but McIntyre has what it takes to develop into a good AFL player. Courageous, strong hands and doesn't panic under pressure. His ony query is his disposal by foot but thats one area that can be fixed.

I would be surprised if he isn't on our list next year.

Ahh Stiff, you still deny that aggression isn't an imprtant ingredient in premiership success. I'm sure recent premiers such as Brisbane, Port, Kangas, Essendon would disagree with you. You need aggression or pace or better yet, both, to be a top side. The only exception to the rule over the past few years is probably Sydney, one of the best drilled TEAM game plans the AFL has seen in a decade.

Agree, Archard IMO a good SANFL player ....not enough tricks as a small to make it at AFL level.

McIntyre, good hands, as you say cool under pressure and if he can get a bit more punch in his kicks rather than up and under he could make it.

Turner and Gallman based on U18 championship form have some real potential but certainly not this year.

What position do Turner and Gallman play?

Andrew McIntyre - but that is it.

McIntyre should get elevated this week and play against the Dogs if Nathan Bassett gets suspended for his hit on Jetta

At present there is no need to elevate them. On the other hand, if Bassett gets an enforced vacation for that hip-and-shoulder on Jetta, then McIntyre would be the logical replacement.

You only elevate them if/when you intend to play them, you don't simply elevate someone simply because you have one (or in our case two) vacancies available. The only exception to this would be a late elevation (around R18) just before eligibility for elevation closes, IF you thought they might get a game after that date.

FWIW, I think McIntyre probably will get elevated at some stage this season, but I doubt Archard will. Haven't seen anything of Gallman & Turner, so no opinion either way there.

Agree with you Vader on all counts. :thumbsu:

I do like the looks of McInntyre and am pretty sure he will end up on our list at some stage, either during or at the end of the year.

From what I've seen of McIntyre he's definitely got some ability, and should be kept on our list to develop. Archard, not sure, and I've not seen the other two. Could Greg Gallman rise from nowhere to save us all this year? :p

Anyone seen David Mackay play yet? I know he played in the trial against Melbourne and impressed KG so I'm intrigued.

Seen him play twice this year and also in last years u/18 GF. Always performed well on every occasion.

As the song says "oh yeah, the boy can play....."

Light as a feather and needs to bulk up, but will be a good footballer IMO

McIntyre is a much, much better player than Hinge. I'm not being biased here but he is a great talent for a kid his age, he holds his own at SANFL level and hasn't even played a full season yet. He has been North's best in both trials he has played against Port and Glenelg too.
