the conflicting opinions regarding when each club started, history and corportaion v franchise is now going to be settled with some cold hard facts.

Sorry to bring this up but this issue has to be settled once and for all so that the petty squabbles (particluarly by Port Supporters) can finally stop.

In summary the the Port Adelaide Football Club (AfL version) was established in 1996, therefore port supporters arguments as to starting in 1870 is a load of rubbish, so to their claims to the 35 SANFL premierships won by the magpies before the AFL team entered the AFL. This was by a seperate club (company). You can not steal the history of someone else and claim as your own just because you have similar names.

Therefore PAFC have the least history, heritage and tradition of all clubs in the AFL.

Secondly both clubs are corporations, that is companies limited by gurantee. The Adelaide Crows are not a franchise, they are a company as is Port Power, there is absolutely no difference between the 2. Any argument to the contrary is just Port supporters jealosuly at the fact they have less, history, tradition and supporters than their cross town rivals.

Argue all you want, these are the cold hard facts of the issue. If you don't beleive me check out www.asic.gov.au and do a search for the Port Adelaide Football Club.

The Port Adelaide Football Club Ltd Est 1996, 1 AFL premiership a poor shadow of the Adelaide Football Club established 1990, 2 AFL premierships.

Why, WHY??????

If you think this is going to settle this issue once and for all, you are seriously deluded.

You have just started another pointless, inane, boring thread.

ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!!!!!

how i understand it from the KG and cornflakes show is that port power were essentially created from the port magpies in 1996 and they kept this name and tried to distance themselves from the port magpies because of the dislike of them in South Australia at the time. In 2000-ish the club realised it had made a big mistake and changed its mind and decided to call itself port adelaide power but the port magpies in the SANFL didn't want to change after they had been left up ******** creek and there has been a rift ever since. The crows meanwhile were created from the SANFL in 1990 odd as a team for all South Australians, we are essentially a state team, that is why we have approx 75% support in the state compared to port's 10-15%. That sums it up pretty simply.

Er TP........TP.....................come on TP. I know you are out there.
Rory.....Tootsie.....Scmalopek......CE......Wingnu.....oh, your already here.

Just wanted to say this............nah nah:p

You little one day wonder, this has been done to death a million times, all of the "proof "you raised has been rebuffed countless times, do a little better next time.

God this is so old. We all know there would have been no PA Power with out PA Magpies pre 96. Regardless of what asic says, PA were formed out of the now defunct team in the SANFL - where a new team PAMFC has arose, so to speak. However, you are right about the one AFL premiership ;). We arent going to count the rest. :)

NEWBIES ARE FUNNY ARENT THEY GUYS :D:D:D:D:D lol what a silly duffa.
It's money for jam alright! :)

Here's the official version from the SANFL:-

"In 1994 the Port Adelaide Football Club was selected for the second AFL Licence by the SANFL and subsequently joined the AFL competition in 1997 after 127 successful years in the SANFL. Their entry into the national arena has assured the South Australian football public of an AFL minor round game being played at Football Park every week."

Why do you bother PoweforGood? he has gone fishing obviously
Yeah, but I hadn't seen this one before... just thought I'd like to see how Collingwood supporters would take to the idea that they were founded in 1983!

Boorrring. If you're going to use the same content over and over again for trolling then you should at least make sure you put a slightly different spin on it. This is just a humiliating effort. :o
