Full Progress at the bottom of this post

Before I'm told, I know this has its own thread, however I figure this deserves its own thread if it is going to work.

Recently I obtained AFL 2004 through the link on the other afl 2004 thread, and I had a look through the files in the installed directory.

I noticed the following things:

- Nothing is compressed
- Everything is editable
- It appears that nothing is hidden, and file sizes do not matter

While I have basic computer knowledge, I've already updated the Collingwood squad to the 2008 lineup, and I'm sure that we could do the rest of the AFL. I'm sure we can update the uniforms and everything else, as well as (possibly) update the AI difficulty (ala cricket games on the pc through planetcricket).

If enough people were interested, we could make this into a decent game that will last a few years, at least until a new game comes out.

If you are interested, let me know here, if this is going to happen we will need as much help as possible.

Ensure to copy the 08 teams completely over the 04 teams, even if there are remaining players from the 04 squad

There was an editor on the web that, while tricky to use, nevertheless made the job a bit easier. Sorry I am time poor but with some googling you might uncover it. It was done by a guy called 'Gilly' and conversely the site was called cricket something as the main focus was on fixes for cricket games. Maybe if he reads BF he will say something!

Actually, while I am at it, some guy did an awesome editor for AFL 1999. Pity he couldn't address any of the games blatant playability issues.

Good luck!

i will certainly try and help with this. as i rekon there needs to be a really good AFL game, and since 2004 was the best they have made (premiership edition aside) this could be something great if we can get it too work.

Problem is that 2004 is up on rapidshare, no one has PE.

I assume it would be the same however, does anyone want the database file I am using with most the 2008 collingwood squad? let me know (it is only collingwood that is updated, and I havent changed pictures or appearances)

ok this is how i got it to work:
*you need winrar

1. download the game
2. extract AFL.Live.2004-MYTH.tar
you will then see lots of files called mytal4**.
3. highlight all of them (theres 58 of them)
right click > extract to mytal4**\
4. in the folder you just extracted double click install.exe
5. click on the little folder button.
6. locate your mytal folder eg.
xxlu5.jpg

7. wait for it to install(this will take 1-3mins)
8. there will now be a folder called AFL2004, go into it
9. double click setup.bat and wait for that to install (takes 2-3mins).
10. double click SetupReg.exe and click install.
11. play the game using AFL2004.exe

enjoy
