Re: Fixing up the AFL games

how many of you guys posting on this thread are located in Melbourne? I ask as I am interested in getting together some people for focus testing of the game.

Re: Fixing up the AFL games

Mid-season?? that is pathetic!!

How is it pathetic? That means they have released 2 games in less than a year for gods sake. How greedy can you get, i'd rather the game be quality than it be rushed out and be crap, although this game isn't sounding a heck of a lot better than the previous half-a***d efforts.

I have a mate who ahem...is working on the new AFL game. He asked me for suggestions as to a) where the game has gone wrong but more importantly b) how to fix the issues with the game by giving suggestions.
I have noticed a few threads here and were thinking it would be great to get all ideas and comments in the one thread. If anyone can give their two cents that would be great. Make sure you mention what version of the game you have (PC, PS2 and Xbox) as they are different.
He is really interested in getting the basics right first and then worrying about the extra frills (but he wants to know what extras you want to).
Now's your chance I guess...

I've been informed that the dev team are made up of lot of people who haven't worked on previous versions. Quite a few from the Heroes of the Pacific team in fact.

I'd give out the date if I could but there are a couple of factors preventing me from doing so...

1) I don't actually know myself. I'd only be guessing and I hate it as much as you guys when a game date is announced and it's constantly pushed back.

2) I think our contract prevents us from leaking a date until an official statement by our publisher is made.

Will check with management at IR to see what's the likely date and get back to y'all.

So, what exactly do you do, Fiery Hawk? Do you have anything to do with this game or are you just yanking our chains? If this game is really in development, how come there isn't anything on the IR Gurus site (or anywhere else for that matter)? As far as I see it, you haven't really given us anything concrete, mate. Everything you've said could be seen as purely wishful thinking and really just pandering to the masses...

Yours sceptically,

Shanefos, I'm Art Lead and one of the Design consultants on the game.

The website hasn't been updated in a long, long time. We know this is an issue and are making plans to revamp it all. It could be worse - have a look at Atari Melbourne House's website...that hasn't been updated since early 2004! With regards to the AFL component of the site I believe there are plans for a separate site put together by our publisher.

I know I haven't given you too much to work with but that's for a very good reason. The game is in development and as such nothing is concrete. I can only merely bounce ideas off you guys and get your feedback on what needs fixing. In the not too distant future I'll be able to give you more details about what is in the game as features are completed and rubber stamped.

Re: Fixing up the AFL games

Bugger, only on PS. Well, screw it then. I'm buying TAR. Will get more hours out of it, it's more in-depth and doesn't have a crapload of annoying bugs. (plus it's $70 cheaper)

Don't really see any sense in making it exclusive to PS though...it's not like any of the previous AFL games have been any good, the only reason people bought them is because it's footy. However there's no chance in hell of making people pay $800+ to play AFL 2006. Hell, $80 is pushing it.

Dissapointed, but not devastated.

Re: Fixing up the AFL games

FH..thanks for your time and effort but I now dont official care what you guys do since you sold out to Sony...I get my Xbox 360 is a couple of days and you guys are working you butts off to develop a game that will only run on the PS2.......Good luck I hope it works out for you - looks like I will continue to play rugby 2006 on my xbox and wait for my xbox 360 to come out....PS2 is old news FH

Re: Fixing up the AFL games

WTF!
What's this about the game only coming out on PS2?!
Any chance that it'll come out on PC? Or will we have to wait several months after the PS2 version has hit the shelves before a PC version?

Apparently AFL 2006 and 2007 will both be exclusively on PS2/3.
