Re: First AFL 2006 Pics

Just looked at the screenshots and it doesn't look as if you have updated Adelaide's jumper. That is no longer our away jumper. This one is.

I dont think anybody actually gives a toss about the graphics.

Still shots are unable to convey what we are all waiting on i.e. GAMEPLAY!

Yep - I don't want to be playing a full length match only to get to the first quarter and find i have one back man and my mate has none.

Nice screens and kick-ass grounds and stadiums, but where are the "different hairstyles" you were talking about? Looks pretty much the same but hey only 3 shots. The second one (with the Bulldogs player kicking the ball) what weather/time setting is that? The sky and grass look amazing.

Very excited.

Yeah good question, does that mean there are more weather settings ie. Cloudy, Raining, Wet (different to raining :)), Sunny, Hot etc.???

I assure you that in the final version of the game all 2006 jumpers (as at June 1st) will be in the game so that one is in there. When the sreenshot was taken we had not included away, clash and heritage uniforms into the game yet.

Very good point!

Has this been fixed from last year???

Also, congrats on what appears to be a huge improvement on the AFL games(Graphics and Gameplay).

Cant wait to try this game!:thumbsu:

With regards to an effect on gameplay unfortunately this time around it's still a case of wet or dry. Visually this can vary however as you see in the screenshot.

Can you explain this to me more? Not sure exactly what you are referring to...but are very willing to find out the answer for you.

Re: First AFL 2006 Pics

In 05 alot of ppl found that when you made a substitution in the backline some (or all) of your backline men would dissappear up the ground and leave a very open foward line.

I found this happened mainly in multi-player games

There are two "new" screenshots at PALGN
Not looking great, looks like last years game

I thought the graphics in 2005 were ok, as long as the graphics are a little smoother and they made the players look a little better....it's all good.

Gameplay is what we are after.

That's the one.

As soon as you made an interchange, it seems if the players forgot to come on.

Hey Folks,

Sorry I haven't replied to any questions lately. We are VERY busy getting the game ready for final testing. As you can tell from those screenshots (wasn't aware any were made public) we are well along the path to a final product.
Some really crucial changes both visually and gameplay-wise have gone into the game in recent days and I'm really enjoying the playing experience. Looking forward to testing out the 4-player game later today.
Very happy with what we have been able to achieve in such a short time.
Recent additions to the game are the team missions, truly aggressive tackles, fixed up speccies (no more specky 5m away), more realistic marking contests (you really have to time your run in the harder difficulty settings) and some sensational attempts at goal by way of the old NES goal kicking style when you're on the boundary! Player hairstyles and even facial hairstyles are being finalised and we're really just adding polish to everything now. Not to mention playing the game as much as possible to spot any anomolies.
I'm really confident that you guys will find the game to be a progression as opposed to the regression that was 2005.

FH

Whats the team missions is that like in 04, when you could play a game from the past

LOL. Also a good way of putting it.

Playing Online, alot of ppl were complaining about it in the 'lobby' and alot of ppl stopped playing for that reason alone.

Was this in online multiplayer? I ask because we have looked for it in normal multiplayer and have found no such isssue. If it was online it's no longer a bug.

I wasn't saying the graphics were bad iam just saying that it looks like the graphics and animation hasn't improved.

But like everyone is saying I would rather they update the gameplay before graphics

The majority of the missions are based on games from the 2005 season. For example, the Richmond mission is based on Browny bringing the Tigers home against the Pies at the G.
Some teams however just have general missions like Essendon who are playing on Anzac Day.
All missions have specific commentary associated with them and the players will have realistic stats at the time you start the game.

You'll definitely notice more changes in the gameplay than the graphics.

No, it was on normal multiplayer also but you don't really notice it until your bro starts punching you in the arm, yelling at you coz"hes got no men left" and you find yourself kicking endless goals against him.................

It doesnt happen all the time, mainly after half time or quater time when you make a sub, for some reason you will only have 1-3 defenders in defense against 4-6 attackers!

It didnt really phase me too much because it happened to both players so it was a disadvantage to both of you...........

kinda hard to explain....

Good to hear the game is coming along nicely. A new question for you FH. What exactly are you testing the game on? Are you using a PC or PS2? I'm assuming PC here and I'm hopeful that Sony will decide to release it on the PC.

I think you have explained it well, esp the punching bit.

Now that you mention it...........It's been a while since I played it and I can't remember:eek:

I dont think it was a major issue in single player.......(but that could be because the cpu cant complain to me that he has no defenders....????....)

That sounds great. :thumbsu:

Really starting to look forward to this game now. Unlike last year, this game has kind of snuck under the radar a bit, and to see it's almost there is a pleasant surprise.

:)
