will rucking be improved this year? ie, the view of players when at the centre bounce, and the actual way to ruck in the game? having just played afl 99 i realised they had a very good rucking method.

The ruck hud makes more sense this year. You'll have a greater opportunity to win the contest with a better skilled ruckman but again your timing is crucial. Taps go in the direction of your midfielders and punches can be directed in any direction. The camera pans into the area so you can see where your guys are. Also depending on which tactical setup at centre bounces you have set you'll know whether to tap directly to them or punch in the hotspot they're running to.

How many trades will be avaiable in trade week, is it unlimited or is there a set amount and also how do trades work, is it like last version how u click on a player and get an offer or can you choose what player you want to offer for a certain player. thanks for all the info mate

Essentially it's the same as the real thing in that you are only to trade up to 5 players and draft picks for the trade week. (When I say week there isn't actually a week as such - we just call it that.)
With regards to the 5 trades you can only trade up to 3 players or draft picks in the one trade. Trading only occurs between 2 sides too (so no 'supertrades' as such - looking at that next year).

So 5 players/draft picks and up to 3 in one trade.

Now when you make an offer to an opposition side you select the player/s or draft pick/s you wish to involve in the trade and they instantly inform you of what they require in return. Sometimes they'll ask for an unrealistic return to put you off chasing their man. They can also 'grey out' players who are untouchable.

Received offers are listed and show you who they want from you and what they are willing to offer. You can see the breakdown of the deal with regards to what money/value the players are and compare it to your salary cap.

The options in the Trade Week menu are make offer, view offers, simulate trade week, end trade week.

Sounds very good, 2005 was too easy with trades so this sounds a lot better, and will even up the competition you face.

Do oppisition sides make offers in 2006, from memory they didn't in 2005...

and also are the majority of the players recognisable? just looking at those screenshots, can't really tell?
the one thing we havn't really talked about is graphics and sound, as we are more interested in the gameplay. But how have the graphics been improved in certain areas? does the game look a little more polished than 2005? and how about the sound?

And is the difference between the difficulty levels greater than previous versions, i always found medium level was no harder than easy...

appreciate the info mate!

Yes, they make offers based on what they need from you in order to meet their masterplan whether it be to rebuild or to top up for the premiership for example.

FH,

Has there been any discussion about the game being release on either PC or XBOX. How much work would be involved in putting it on these other platforms seeing as you are developing for PS2 only at the moment- is it lots of work or can it be ported easily.

I know you probably cant comment so just say NO if it never going to happen and NO COMMENT if it might.

Thank you

yeah yeah... they said that last time and it was just a delay in the xbox and pc version coming out.

I am wondering if this is the same case or if this time the sony only deal means sony only for real.

That's not really a problem, the Madden's and NBA 2k's of the world don't even have this feature.

P.S. Looking forward to this game, doing a good job FH :thumbsu:

So basically there is a high chance this game will come out on Xbox and PC but for some stupid reason SONY want people to think its only coming out on PS2.....

Heres hoping anyway :)

Hey FH do AI controlled teams change there tactics throughout a match? like trying to pretect a small lead they flood, and try to block up the game...

I'm pretty sure they don't. Would have been nice to get that in. However, they are random tactical setups generated at the start of the game so no two games are the same against a side (in theory of course).
For 06 the onus is on you to counteract their tactics.

FH,

Thanks for the updates thus far. I am not sure if you have answered this previously but I could not find it.

In all the AFL games thus far I have found the lack of "Atmosphere" extremely frustrating and brought the general game down. For example, when playing at "home" i.e the SCG, the opposition teams get as big a cheer as the Swannies when they kick a goal. I would love to hear more noise for the home team and boos / yells when the opposition kicks a goal. Has this been included in AFL 2006?

Thanks mate,
Matt

That's an excellent point. I know you don't have the budget and everything of the American game makers but they are starting to perfect this and it really does improve a game quite a lot just by excelling at this feature in the game.

I have MLB2006 and the home crowd really gets into it in crucial situations, it really makes you feel involved.

From what I've seen there hasn't seemed to be a major focus on that area although I fully appreciate the importance of it. Definitely something to look at getting right for next time. I do believe 'some' work has been done on it but not as much as on other areas of the game.

I haven't played that but do have MVP Baseball 2005 and MLB2K5. They are both excellent examples of atmospheric sound relating to the gameplay. My favourite example right now is Rugby 06...really love the crowd reactions to big hits and great runs.
