McLean becoming a very good player imo. Ducking/diving trait seems to be slowly leaving his game, kid can seriously play.

Not sure I get the press about Merrett being a good field kick. Finds it well but turns it over a lot.

Bont very impressive as usual.

McLean is garbage and Merrett can't handle a tag. Precedent is set now with Merrett. He looked scared out there today. He'll be heavily tagged from here on in. He didn't even nearly look like breaking his tag today. He was ineffective and played as though he was hearing footsteps. Libba clearly got into him. He rattled him.

There's more north supporters in this thread than there was in our gameday thread last week :D:D

Poor decisions late stand out more when you butcher the ball. Should've kicked 5 goals in the last quarter without the poor decisions. All credit to the dogs, played a similar style much better than we did.

All we had to do is isolate our forwards deep and get it in long, ala North to us last week and we'd have won this easily.

I mean, there are times when games are decided by the umps. You guys got bent over against Geelong earlier in the year for example.

But this isn't one of those times, Essendon were just clumsy/dirty.

At least we can beat teams in the 8.
Enjoy finals, you know, where all the teams are in the 8.
Port, out in straight sets.

Obviously have made an evaluation of McLean based on his ducking early in his career.

Becoming a very good player.

We got the rough end of the stick sometimes against Geelong, but that's football. Umpires don't decide matches.

s**t stains like McLean ruin the game as a spectacle. It's a bloody good game and then the flog decides to cheat a free kick by forcing a high tackle he didn't deserve. Id happily instruct our blokes to aim for the point of his shoulder with a round arm and if he decides to lift it then bad luck to him
How about that Oliver dive against West Coast?

Has been tagged before and killed it.

Had a shocker today but has proven to beat taggers in the past and will do so again.

To be fair, we kicked ourselves out of this game more than anything.

We had the best passages of play all game but would constantly shank the last kick either to an open teammate or for goal.

If our kicking was only 3-5% better (Both field and goal) we would have won this game.

Hurleys kick with 5 minutes remaining and us down by 6 that went to the single bulldogs players in between three Bombers players and resulted in a turnover goal down the other end summed up our day.

What probably made your inaccuracy in front of goal more costly than usual was that it was such an end-to-end game. In many games, kicking a behind means that a team gets to lock the ball into their forward 50 and get repeat shots on goal, so being inaccurate isn't such a massive deal. In this game, a behind to one team was just as likely to end up in a shot on goal to their opponent, which is what really hurt the Bombers.

Nah you better off instructing Oliver to dive.

Absolutely livid. Came to watch a game, saw an umpiring display.

Here's another thing. Essendon wiped out by disgracefu.l free kicks, any wonder players like Goddard get angry frustration and umpiring bias and stupidity ot incompetence , any one out therereckon the Dogs played a five goal better game , well you know nothing what soever about footy and how the AFL has f****d this sport now with its bent rules! How can you trust a result any more.
Christ what a melt.

Who cares. BJ just made my day. McLean is garbage. He makes a career out of ducking. Goddard has had a reasonable career.
Post of the round. One's a premiership player, the other is a petulant player whose only claim to fame is to attack the lolly plate at half time.

I am not blaming the umpires like a lot of Essendon fans but this is absurd if you actually believe it.

Umpiring was just the regular AFL shitshow it always is.
Not at all, just keeping up with the umpiring bashing trend that's taken off over the past two years. Us dogs fans are ecstatic with the win, which is also a testament to the quality of the essendon side. Good luck for the rest of the year.
