I feel like Dermot still really loves Isaac Smith, even after leaving the Hawks.

I don’t mean this in a dickhead way because I like him as a bloke and a player but I wonder how Tim Kelly feels about all this at the moment.

Who knows what would have happened if he stayed because we basically got Cameron for him but he’s basically resigned himself to being an A-grader in a c-grade side until at best the tail end of his career. Would be tough for him being on the end of this as well as seeing his old side win a flag last year
You don’t come off as a dickhead in saying this, I just reckon he thought the Eagles were closer than they actually were. They’ve had two consecutive years where they’ve been hammered by injury and covid and it’s expedited their downfall.

Just wrong place wrong time. He would be spewing in one aspect but at least he’s being paid handsomely and is around his family - which as an indigenous man is more important than a white fella like me could ever comprehend.

I think you hit the nail on the head here

Completely - I had no issue with him going and Absolutely sympathised with his reasons and I was pretty disappointed with some of the things that were said about it when he left. I just wonder what he would do if he had his time again just for another 3-4 years even.

He would have been expecting the Eagles to be at least as good a chance to win a premiership as Geelong when he left. So, of course it hasn't gone how he would have planned, but he went for family reasons after all. If he'd publicly done it to win a premiership then sure, he'd probably feel a bit silly.

At the end of the day, he's a good player and a great person. He was all class and a true professional in what was a tough situation during his last 12 months at Geelong and I wish him nothing but the best.

He loves anyone that he's met or knows personally, couldn't get him to shut up about anyone on GWS's list a few years back after he spent a few weeks there as a specialist coach.

George Burbury was perhaps Derm's most random love child for half a season or so after he interviewed him once on SEN.

No disrespect to Geelong but west coast are a ******* disgrace. I've seen much worse teams perform more competitively. Surely you sack the coach and try something else because they are not playing for him.
💯
The only time they’ve really tried was the derby - played like their lives depended on it .
Proceeded to cop a heap of injuries because of it and now back to their putrid selves

They have a really bad injury list like the start of last year. They were competitive when they got players back but the concern would be relying too heavily on their senior players for good performances and maintaining standards/culture

Yeah I get that but we also need to remember a lot of their best players are older so yes a couple of injury-ravaged years but in a side that didn't really have that time to lose.
