Collingwood have not tasted defeat at Adelaide Oval since 2017 and they will be desperate to put a terrible game behind them so the trip to Adelaide oval is like a dream for them. It will be hard fought but I cannot see us (Adelaide) beating them. I think a loss will do us good before next month so it is better for Adelaide to lose this one. West Coast gave us a wakeup call, now we really need a wakeup call.

Pies by 12 points. (or is it 1 point again?)

Oldiewood will struggle in the middle. They were pantsed by Hawthorn - missing Day.

How can they stop Walker, Thilthorpe, Fogarty with Moore (& what’s his name).

Let alone Rankin.

It’s going to get fugly.

Drop this and the Crows could miss out on a home Qualifying Final. Not to mention the monkey being removed from their back by beating the bogey side. Must win.

Losing to Collingwood may be better, it will get us more prepared for a finals meeting.

Just beat North in R24 and grab 2nd.

Again, Pies will struggle to kick 10 goals, maybe even struggle to kick 7.

Thilthorpe and Keays might kick enough to outscore the Pies

Crows best chance to get over Collingwood. If they can't beat them this week they won't win the flag.
If the crows win easy then Collingwood will be done for this season.

There’s an odd stat here.

Eighteen grand finalists have lost either their third-last or second-last match in the minor round. Twelve of these eighteen have won. Losing at this point may not be a terrible sign.

Actually feel like us dropping this will be good for us - haven’t lost a game in months and need a wake up call - reset.
I don't get this logic of why we need a loss.

Geelong won 16 in a row to win in '22
Richmond won 12 in a row to win in '19
Brisbane won 16 in a row to win in '01

If you're hot, you're hot. Besides, if nearly losing to the Eagles wasn't a wake-up call, then I don't know what is.

We’re on 7 at the moment. If we win the next two, we’ll be on 9.

Six teams since 2000 have entered the finals on a 9-game winning streak or longer. That’s for three premiers (which you listed, plus Adelaide 2005 (prelims), Geelong 2008 (lost GF) and one other preliminary finalist that I can’t identify right now. That’s not too bad.

Sixteen teams have entered the finals on a streak of 5-8 wins, for one premier - Richmond 2020.

For smaller streaks:

4 wins - 3 premiers out of 10.
3 wins - 1 premier out of 13.
2 wins - 5 premiers out of 12.
1 win - 7 premiers out of 24.

Both 2 wins and 1 win are much more likely to win the grand final than lose it.

Maybe losing a late game isn’t such a bad thing. But also, maybe you’re right - the “win that feels like a loss” will do the same job.
