Umpires are poor because the rules are complex and change all the ****ing time, they’re not professional so they’re less competent than they should be, and they’re human and overly influenced by home crowds.

The AFL can fix two of those, but refuse to. So it’s a chook lotto at the best of times.

Why do you think the AFL refuse to fix it? Could it be that it suits their interests?

The only issue with that comment is that the other umpires aren't any better. If you disqualified an umpire every time they had a bad game you'd be pulling them from the u10s.
