I'd disagree. That last quarter last week was horrific. Calls were mostly going one way and when they were there to go the other way, they didn't pay them.

Umpires are poor because the rules are complex and change all the ****ing time, they’re not professional so they’re less competent than they should be, and they’re human and overly influenced by home crowds.

The AFL can fix two of those, but refuse to. So it’s a chook lotto at the best of times.

You can guarantee they will all get a spot in the first week of finals. They did exactly what they were instructed to do. Once again, the AFL show how ****ing corrupt they are.

Umpires aren't instructed to favour one side or the other, if you think that you're a flog. But the umpires crumbled under pressure and succumbed to the noise of affirmation, not what you want at the top level.

If that's the case, then there should be a lot of bad calls but they'd go both ways about evenly. "Influenced by home crowds" is not an excuse – if they don't have the mental fortitude to resist crowd pressure, they're not fit to be an umpire.
What we saw here was just blatant match fixing so Kenny and Boak could get their "fairy tale".

Of course if you watched the umpires in the earlier game, then that would cause confusion as it was a free kick for holding the man to Melbourne on a few occasions for a similar tackle…
