BT is a racist bogun.Did BT just see some Sudanese fellows and think of Gout Gout or was Gout there or does BT think all Sudanese look the same???
Cheer up, mate!I watched the entire game and any time Carlton looked like they were pulling away or gaining momentum there was a very soft free kick paid.
Granted some were there by the letter of the law but it’s just typical for the umpires to start being so thorough when they feel like it.
The total free kick count is irrelevant in my opinion. There will be well umpired games that only have 30 free kicks paid and then there will also be well umpired games that have 60 free kicks paid. Umpiring should be evaluated on the quality of decision making and their consistency within games not the number of free kicks they pay.
Do you see similarities in Hawthorn 2024/25 and Geelong 2007?Ball movement killed the Blues as expected, Carlton are playing a style of game not suited to this era. They will struggle this year unless they change their style of play.
Blasphemy!Do you see similarities in Hawthorn 2024/25 and Geelong 2007?
They seem to use wave running and lots of handballs to open up opportunistic scoring avenues via their smalls
It's not really rocket science. Teams set up defensively to intercept the long kicks. If you run through them, the defence collapses. Hell, even Richmond in 2008 beat the hawks by running the ballDo you see similarities in Hawthorn 2024/25 and Geelong 2007?

This. I've been to games where they've been 20 paid and they weren't calling anything. Terrible! Hate the line "put the whistle away". If the frees there, pay it. In 1970, free kick count had a average of 83.5 per game and yet this is regarded as a "golden decade" of football.
Ok, so can you provide quantified evidence of this? Not just "the vibe"No doubting Hawthorn got a great run the same the first two rounds. They’re the flavour of the month and the umps are rising along with it.
There is no such thing as quantitative evidence of bad umpiringOk, so can you provide quantified evidence of this? Not just "the vibe"
Our defence is much better. Forward break even.Do you see similarities in Hawthorn 2024/25 and Geelong 2007?

There absolutely is. It's a list of poor decisions. Given the amount that keep tabs on supposed hawthorn bias, there must be evidenceThere is no such thing as quantitative evidence of bad umpiring
What a bad decision is is completely subjective for the most partThere absolutely is. It's a list of poor decisions. Given the amount that keep tabs on supposed hawthorn bias, there must be evidence
Hope you enjoyed Josh Battles game.No doubting Hawthorn got a great run the same the first two rounds. They’re the flavour of the month and the umps are rising along with it.
Chumpy...ecstatic at my boys endeavoursNo doubting Hawthorn got a great run the same the first two rounds. They’re the flavour of the month and the umps are rising along with it.
List them then. Let it be debated. 99% of all studies are subjectiveWhat a bad decision is is completely subjective for the most part
Why? If you thought the umpiring was fine then that's your right. I'm not rewatching the whole game to get time stamps of every wrong decision to show you. I was at the game and it was one of the worst officiated games I've been too. Regardles, either team could have won that game.List them then. Let it be debated. 99% of all studies are subjective

And not sure what studies you are referring to that are 99% subjective...
Both teams ducked, flopped, dived and staged for free kicks consistently all night. Both sides were rewarded for it.Why? If you thought the umpiring was fine then that's your right. I don't agree but like I said its all subjective. Everyone will have their own view. And as I've said even putting it aside it was still a winnable game for both sides. Both teams ducked, flopped, dived and staged for free kicks consistently all night. Both sides were rewarded for it.
I didn't see it as a screw job to either team.
You thought Carlton were screwed?I don't agree but like I said its all subjective. Everyone will have their own view. And as I've said even putting it aside it was still a winnable game for both sides.
I have watched both of Hawthorn's previous games but I'm not commenting on the umpiring from those games because it's irrelevant in a thread like this. I don't believe there is some conspiracy where umpires favour Hawthorn. You thought Carlton were screwed?
Did you watch Hawthorn's previous two matches? They were much more favourable to Hawthorn (albeit the complaints were still overbearing) than this week.
