Calling for the stretcher/medicart is up to your club's doctors. Has nothing to do with the umpires.

and is generally avoided because if they take that step, the player is considered unable to continue. Not calling for it gives them the option to further assess the situation and potentially bring the player back.

and as with most such rules, it was brought in because clubs were starting to use stretchers (etc) tactically to cause a break in play.

Liked: Every game was a close one this weekend. Most were worth watching too (except the Ross Lyon coached game, as usual). Even the Hawks game only became a blow-out in Q4.

Learnt: The Suns are finally the real deal. Should definitely make finals from here

Hated: I hate the Bombers... but more than that I hate to see young players (especially first gamers) with long-term injuries.

I bemoaned the lack of quality last week, but the weekend was a ripper. Maybe they were saving all the quality contests until now.

is still the best KPF in the game
Geriatrics > youth. To be fair, I learnt this a while ago but just wanted to reinforce it. Elliott, Sidebottom, Gunston etc. all still playing pivotal roles.

Hated:
Nothing really, but if I could choose one, we shut up shop too early when we had Port in the ropes in the last quarter. That, and Milera's turnover so make that two things. At least we held on.

Still hate the stand rule. If we must have it make the penalty 25m. 50m is way too generous for something that usually has zero impact on the game.

Hated (and learnt)! Shoota's concussion and the umpires not stopping the game, and Shoota walking off, should've been a stretcher or medicart there. Seriously dangerous stuff! Get your shit together AFL!

Liked: Geelong v GWS. I took a strangely calm attitude watching the game, rather than worrying about the result so much and I really, really enjoyed the moments.

Learnt: Fool proof way to sneak booze into the game.

Hated: The four umpire system. They are too scared to disagree and look silly and tentative. Go back to three. Tell them to back themselves. And when the media ask for explanations of controversial decisions back the umpires up.
