STATE OF PLAY:
  • The game is out for Steam and PlayStation. There have been issues with Xbox release and it is unclear when the game will be available.
  • Big Ant are aware that there are playability issues & bugs at present.
  • Content has been temporarily removed from the game to identify where the issues lie.
  • This content will be re-introduced via patches in the coming days.
  • Big Ant have released a summary of what is to be reintroduced, which can be seen below.

Hopefully we can see tweak to online performance, custom matches, state leagues and also fix the pace of the player when receiving a handball, currently they slow right down

That's just ridiculous. None of the clips I've seen on here are because of user skill either. They're broken mechanics.

Good work, I feel like these vids would be really helpful from a dev perspective - make sure you send via official channels too.

I have no knowledge in development etc but there looks to be a lot of weird animation competition going on here. Kick looks nice, teleport into a tackle animation, goes from a left foot kick to a right foot kick without any contact, then the tackle lands after the kick but it has already affected the ball's trajectory. Uber weird.

The teleport tackling is broken for sure. Especially when the opposition can instantly dispose of the ball but you can't. Don't think anyone will argue on that one. I remember it happening on the preview streams, but didn't seem to happen nearly as much.
 
Have played a few PS5 games since the patch:

  • yet to complete a match (player 3, 1 crashed completely, 1 I rage quit because I was getting flogged 😂, 1 froze). Both crashes/freezes happened late in the last quarter. A little frustrating as I was enjoying the game
  • tackle distance is a big problem. Constantly feels like I’m in space then bam, I’m tackled
  • congestion (I know it’s something BA introduced, and fixing?)
  • super excited for tactics to come into play
  • AI feels like they have loose men everywhere. Not so much of an annoyance, but when I get the ball it feels very 1v1 orientated
  • turning is better. It’s not perfect, needs a little more work.
  • still difficult to create overlap handballs. Both tackle distance and the receiver being flat footed when receiving the pass plays a role in this.

Very excited to be able to play online matches vs friends. Yet to start a career until all gameplay features + state leagues are introduced. All in all very fun but the crashes have soured my experience this morning

I'm assuming the priority for patches is 1) stability 2) gameplay 3) everything else (new features, fixed face scans, academy stuff etc)

We've already seen features being added but this issue (and many others) remains, must be a difficult fix. Hopefully we get one because for me it's game breaking.

I'm glad others are bringing this up, I've been screaming to The Heavens for it to be fixed. Hopefully Big Ant are looking into it, it's very problematic and noticeable.
 
Playing on PS5:
Movement still feels wonky. Moving after receiving a disposal is a nightmare and coupled with the ais huge tackle range and how long it takes to kick off the run is leading to a very annoying experience where playing a quick moving game is difficult to put it mildly

I’m Tackling a bit more often but I’m still finding that majority of the time I’m unable to cut out attacks as my tackles don’t register. Together these issues make the game incredibly frustrating to play. It feels like I can’t get a kick off and I can’t stop the AI from chaining attacks together, even on the easiest difficulty. Is anyone else finding this to be the case?

Also please allow the right stick to move the camera on end to end and add a bounce button to L3

It's interesting because you would think it's just a tweak to the distance calculation that the tackle and animation can happen.

But likely it's not so simple as that or they would have already fixed it.

May need a thread that people can post video documentation of the glitches and bugs, would make things easier to research for Big Ant.
 
Ross and JNT, some online comments for you guys.

PS5 online is completely unplayable, can’t even get past the coin toss then the game stops freezes, and if you’re lucky enough to get past the coin toss the game will crash after the first goal is scored or the players can’t pick the ball up at all then it goes from AFL to FIFA lmao. The gameplay needs a massive tuning, handballs fall flat every-time, and players just teleport all over the ground. Also the camera angle that allows you to follow the player from behind is frustrating as hell when the camera turns around so slowly because you either kick it out on the full every single time or run in the opposite direction. Also you can’t spoil anything it’s always a mark every time too. Tackling is another massive issue you can’t lay any tackles and when you do the umpire never calls a ball up or holding the ball the player gets up off the ground and continues to run. And sometimes when marking it’s an instant play on without pressing anything! Also I’m convinced the wind does nothing goal kicking is so easy

PS5 update installed.

Tried online, game froze after the coin-toss.

Did a season mode game. Gameplay was better but an absolute tackle-fest. 15 seconds left kicked a game sealing win and the game crashed.
