AFL Club Ratings

From a great height. :)

You do realise, most on Big Footy don't like to be proven wrong, but I'll admit, I am wrong.

I knew Ron Barassi, I just forgot to list him, and the rating I gave Melbourne should be changed, and I'll update that list, but I'll update it for all clubs because I'll take into account what others have said too.

Melbourne 78
Richmond 99

Who shits on who dumbass?:p

Let me guess. Mt Buller?

Historically I would rate Richmond above Melbourne. More passionate supporters and with more success.

Carlton have had some greats of the games and no mentions I found that strange as much as the enemy that they are. Jezalenko, Kernahan, Silvangi

Im not going to bother breaking it down but the gratest clubs overall I would have in this order in Victoria

1. Collingwood
2. Carlton
3. Essendon
4. Richmond
5. Hawthorn
6. Melbourne
7. Geelong
8. Fitzroy
9. St Kilda
10. Western Bulldogs
11. South Melbourne
12. North Melbourne
13. University

the top 3 very close, Richmond not far off. Big gap to the rest.

I threw in the clobs that have moved/folded as they are still part of the history of football in Victoria.

Agree with most of this, I might even place Geelong above Hawks/Dees.

My only query was "cultural impact".

You gave Footscray 20/20 because of Whitten (a player from the 50's), and the MFC 18/20, even though the latter wrote the rules of the game and has icons such as Barassi and Norm Smith - the only individual in history to be associated with 10 flags.

Richmond have a lot more supporters. Big deal. It takes nothing to barrack for a club. Look at Collingwood.

As Dennis Pagan used to say, if you argue with an idiot for long enough soon no-one will know the difference.

I'll grab my coat.

You are a ****ing idiot, I just said I'm wrong and you continue to lay the boots in? Get off the Richmond board you freaking troll. :thumbsd:

Revised List...

Collingwood = (97) 96

Supporter Base: 20/20 - Most likely the strongest
Historical Success: 18/20 - Lose two points due to grand final losses.
Off Field Stability: 19/20 - Top notch. Lost a point for the 90's stuff before Eddie.
Passion: 20/20 - COOOLLLLINNGGGWOOOOODD
C. Impact: 19/20 - Coventry...

Carlton = (95) 94

Supporter Base: 20/20 - The Strongest?
Historical Success: 20/20 - 16 premierships
Off Field Stability: 17/20 - Lost points 4 salary cap breaches, Fev scadals, JohnElliott...
Passion: 19/20 - Very passionate
C. Impact: 18/20 - Missing that 'Dyer, Whitten, Coleman...' Super DUPER elite player

Essendon = (95) 94

Supporter Base: 19/20 - Very Strong. But has yet to prove that they aren't 'fairweather' supporters. We'll see how much they support the club through failure, not success.
Historical Success: 20/20 - 16 premierships.
Off Field Stability: 19/20 - Very Strong, lose a point due to the Knights & Sheedy stuff.
Passion: 18/20 - Strong with success, but w/out is unproven, fans shunned Knights, need to realise they shunned their club along with him.
C. Impact: 18/20 - Hird, Sheedy, Coleman...

Western Bulldogs = (83) 80

Supporter Base: 15/20 - They own the Western Suburbs, if you go there, its a kennel, literally. But just as others have stated, other than that, its pretty tough to find a WB supporter anywhere else..
.
Historical Success: 10/20 - 2 GF appearances, 1 Flag, not that many spoons though.
Off Field Stability: 17/20 - They were going bonkers in the late 80's, still survived, win points. Doing well now.
Passion: 18/20 - Crazy piercing tattoo, mohawk dude coming in mind...
C. Impact: 20/20 - Whitten...

Also changed the points to some team people apparently loved 150 years ago...

So wait, Essendon have fair-weather supporters on board now? After the "success" of 15th, 12th, 12th, 8th, 14th. If the band-wagon brigade are still on board now, we are doing something spectacularly right!
Hawks are miles, miles bigger than St K or the Dogs.
It's hard to judge one club in the top 4 against another club in the bottom 4 for total supporters, EVERY club has bandwagoners.
I'd put Mick Long, Pants Millane, JESALENKO YOU BEAUTY, DAICOS! and James Hird way in front (as remembered players today and around today's parks and local ovals) than Coventry or Whitten or Jack Dyer.

I read the first three words of your reply and then I stopped.

You can't please the everyone, make up your own if you like :)

Clearly you're an idiot.

When one starts a thread that espouses the virtues of "cultural impact" and lauds the greats of yesteryear, such as "Teddy Whitten", "Jack Dyer", etc, one can't pick and choose a beginning and ending.

Richmond have done nothing for 30 years yet you highlight Bartlett, Hart, etc. That's fine, as they're part of your cultural history, but you're a fool if you think you know when culture starts and stops. It doesn't have less importance because your own insignificant life wasn't there to see it.

Melbourne's "cultural significance" shits on Richmonds.

As you have come on to our board and rudely denigrated a loyal Tiger supporter it is clear, that whether MFC has any culture left or not, that you certainly don't, if you dont like CNB1990's list, then head back to your own board and start your own

What has his loyalty to Richmond, or otherwise, got to do with anything he wrote ? If one writes crap on any public forum expect to be held to account.

Kapeesh ?

Then don't complain when the rubbish you have posted on this thread is held to account.

Kapeesh?

claiming that melbourne has more cultural significance and braoder social impact than the RFC has had.

you may have written the rules, but England invented cricket...Melbourne FC is in no place to make these outrageous claims, especially with that god awful new emblem you have, the southern cross is there to try and attract the bogan vote obviously...so so awful
