Draft Table Talk:

From all reports there wasn't any discussion for pick 13 when Riewoldt was still there. They might have briefly thought about Sellar or Mitchell Brown.
Edwards fits with the type of player Richmond want, so they were probably very happy to get him at 26.
They did send out a third rounder in the Polak trade, but might have taken Connors with that pick if they still had it. It didn't matter as he was there at 58.
The Tigers again went small and quick with their final two selections. So it was a taller player in round one, and then the usual Terry Wallace draft of smalls with the rest of their picks.

2006 Draft vs 2005 Draft:
Richmond only had 3 picks in 2005, all in the top 40. Oakley-Nicholls, Hughes and Casserly were their picks. The first three players that Richmond took in 2006 will have a bigger impact for Richmond next season than their 2005 draftees will. Hughes did show promise last season, but Riewoldt is a much better prospect.

Rombotis, Blurton & Dragicevic LMAO @ that

Gee I hope not !!! :thumbsd:

if one of them is as good as dragga i would be resonably happy, it was two knees in a row that did in his career. he was a very good player before that. blurton and rombotis rofl at those comparisons.

doenst rombotis rank as one of our worst players ever? why make that comaprision?

spot on. He should have compared the Jamie Elliotts or Mathew Manfields of this world.
You see rombotis arrived as a dud and confrimed it to us, the other 2? well, i heard a whipser that when Elliot arrived he was "earmarked" as captain material and as for Manfield? our much celebrated coach at the time, who has moved on to doing "expert" comments at C10 along with sitting in on "review" panels, to add his "expertise" in selecting coaches, Mr Walls, well he suggested that Manfield was the next big thing that was about to take the footy world by storm. Just a side note to all that BS, is that its just coincidental that when Wallsy was taking us to the heights, he sought out the services of a certain Ross Lyon as a defensive coach, and what do you know? Ross Lyon is now coaching the Saints, as recommended by that review panel.
Gonna be watching how the "expert", once again did the job on a team, that wasnt in navy blue. Hey Wallsy? there are still some nuff nuffs out there, that think you are the go to man. ;)

Geez, tad debatable I would have thought. :thumbsd:

if riewoldt went last year he would of been top 5

hughes was picked up at 24

make your own mind up

At last this club is getting young blood into the group ... the players they have recruited are not just for now but for the future.

Richo can't have too many years to go and we have a number of young guns, that with one or two years under their belt, will be ready to step up ... the future is looking great ... now for some additions to our ruck stocks ... let's wait for the PSD.

Now I know I may not have been around here when this particular character was around but I feel obliged to ask this...

Did Rombotis play 76 games? ;)

I agree rommy was a dud but Matthew Dundas was worse and what about Banik.

I always thought Matty Dundas had a crack, but was way out of his league...
Like a mad midget sheep dog, he'd run to every contest.
Am I right?.....(gee I don't store the memory of hacks well)...

'CD Rombotis' was a bit light on, wasn't he?

But 'Brownlow' Banik fooled us all...

Ah....the memories *Barbara Streisand starts playing in the background*

Just keep the young guys coming........sooner or later it's gotta kick in...
