Yeah that Brisbane team in the grand final was just loaded with big 'stand and mark' forwards. All them big 199 cm gorilla forwards. No wonder Geelong couldn't cope.

So you are saying we are a good marking side in front of the footy ?
Brisbane played their rucks forward and also Gardner at times. Then there was the fact that Hipwood was injured and Daniher retired compared to last year.
The game was won in the midfield. That is where the Cats could not cope. Nothing to do with the forwards.
Having one stand and mark forward is not loaded.

Is this because you do not rate Schubert or you do not want a KPF ?
If you run through our list of 190cm plus forwards there is really only May as a possible contested marking forward.
Caddy is more attack the footy type and not a stand and mark.
Visentini is going to be a ruck forward.
Gerreyn is still a long shot and could end up being used in defence.
We are a really poor marking side in front of the footy. Schubert is a genuine marking forward.

Don’t rate Schubert.

I would take Taylor over Cumming by the length of the Flemington straight, and he's way more likely to fall to us of the two.

I’d be thrilled with that haul.

Taylor, Sharp and Dovaston is pretty much the dream scenario for us. I rate Sharp higher than Robey after binging all their footage online. Dovaston partners with Kako for the future. Taylor is basically just Ridley for when Ridley inevitably gets injured

It would be also be silly to take grlj or lindsay that high in the draft, if they saw them as a need they might aswell trade back. I’d say twomey is spot on with the first 6 live picks but it gets interesting after there. I highly doubt Freo would take schubert

Xavier Taylor, Sharp and Dovostan is an unreal haul, would definitely be happy with that but I’m still not pleased with trading 21, 27, and 30 for 9, I think that’s an overpay. Look who’s still left on the board in twomey’s phantom draft, Phillipou, NHH, Schubert, Barker.
If we do select Dovostan, I can kind of understand it but I personally wouldn’t do it.

While I understand where you're coming from, Richmond have specified that with their first two picks, they're going to take BPA regardless of need.

Coupled with Cal being pretty on the money with the first 10 or 15 picks the last couple of years, it wouldn't surprise me at all if that's how it unfolds.

Agree. XTaylor seems the most logical selection for Richmond to me. I don't get Cal's choice there at all.

Twombstone doesn’t necessarily feel like he’s as sure as he normally is.

Last year he basically nailed the top dozen and then it all went absolutely haywire after that. This year, I’m still not sure he knows what Richmond is doing, which could throw the whole thing out.

Phantom draft isn't based on where he thinks players should go, it's based on what he's hearing.

I will say that Richmond run a tighter ship than most clubs, so there's more of a chance that this doesn't eventuate than his other top 10 picks.

But Cal almost never misses on early picks these days. He starts to have a much poorer strike rate after the teens.

I'd be stoked with Dov at 9. The pressure and class he promises to bring to our forwardline and high half, in combination with Kako and () Sweid should set us up to play Scott's forward half game. We've had a revolving door of half-arsed small forwards for too long. This should make us much more potent.

The fact he has Cumming at 7 and Robey at 8 feels dodgy to me. There’s something about it where I feel they take Robey or Xavier Taylor with Cumming or Robey & Taylor. I don’t see see them taking Robey and Cumming, I still expect another twist. I think he’s got ours and Melbourne’s picks correct. So it’s either cumming or Taylor.

Cal has been consistent with that group of 4 for the Tigers. I think in his phantom he has had to do some educated guessing and isn't 100% on what the Tigers will do.
