This is a good hypothetical.Suppose we don't pick Sharp with picks 5 or 6 (Say, we pick Cumming and Taylor for argument sake).
Then Melbourne don't pick Sharp either (perhaps they go for two of Farrow/Nairn/Grlj
Would you pick Sharp or Dovaston with pick 9?![]()
The thing is it’s not gonna be Cumming and Taylor as one of them or both are off the board, you’d pick Dovaston at 13 if Robey gets to our pick.Suppose we don't pick Sharp with picks 5 or 6 (Say, we pick Cumming and Taylor for argument sake).

Sheehan believes South Australian Dyson Sharp should still be in the conversation as the best young talent alongside Duursma and Duff-Tytler.
“I’ve said consistently that I think there’s three genuine number ones and Dyson Sharp’s in that group,” he said.
“He’s drifted in many people’s views, but not mine.
“I link back to performance in the only level playing field we have, which is our national championships. He dominated the national championships.
“... So he’s in the debate with Cooper Duff-Tytler and, of course, with Willem Duursma.
“So any of those boys have played well enough, have got the potential to open up to be great AFL players as well.
“... That’s exciting for the game to have that competition there to see who wins the mantle of the best player at the moment, from around Australia.”
Sharp could slip as low as Essendon, who currently hold picks No.5 and No.6.
Whilst I don’t disagree with you, but Sheehan could be describing a player selected at pick 60 as a 4 time Brownlow medalist, 10 time All Australian. This is from today. Hopefully this settles some of the Sharp doubters in here. Sheehan is an excellent judge of talent.
Oh for sure he loves the hyperbole. But he's also saying Sharp is a top 3 prospect which basically means anyone other than Duursma/CDT/Sharp he views as worse (excl academy obvs).Whilst I don’t disagree with you, but Sheehan could be describing a player selected at pick 60 as a 4 time Brownlow medalist, 10 time All Australian.
Start of the draftWhen does the window open for pick trades? Is it this afternoon sometime or does it open as soon as the picks start happening?
I'd lean towards Dovaston too, but it's a tough one. This is a good hypothetical.
It's line-ball.
For me, I'd probably go with Dovaston. Just because i think him pairing up with Kako up fwd would be pretty special for the next decade. But it would be hard to let go of someone like Sharp with his leadership potential.
I wouldn't be disappointed either way but i think i would lean towards Dovaston.
Who do we pick up at 9 if the Dees have taken Dovaston??
Oskar Taylor? Lindsay?? Grlj??
we really cant lose.X taylor robey and dovaston my dream draft,
But I’ve got a feeling that the dees trade up to tigers pick and select robey or Cummings and tigers get the other and that leaves us with x Taylor sharp …..maybe dovaston or farrow
Unless we trade up.we really cant lose.
Nah it’s been confirmed Melbourne isn’t trading up.X taylor robey and dovaston my dream draft,
But I’ve got a feeling that the dees trade up to tigers pick and select robey or Cummings and tigers get the other and that leaves us with x Taylor sharp …..maybe dovaston or farrow
Unless they turn out to be a repeat of the 2020 drafteeswe really cant lose.
Gut feels are Taylor just feels like a Richmond player, and Sharp a bomber.
Hate to go against Twomey but barring a trade, I'll say Richmond go X. Taylor and Cumming. Which would leave Robey and Sharp as a fantastic result for us.
