Is it just me or do you get called for throwing the ball too often?

I handballed without anyone near me and it called throwing.
Obvs the umpires in the game are cracking down on handpasses due to the dogs last year

Yeah, it's very frustrating when going for goal around 50m out. You have about a 0.001 of a second between a great goal and completely shanking it.

I found that happening to me a lot prior to the patch..... I find I have to do it even faster/earlier now and as a result a lot of my kicks don't even reach the goal square.

In saying that I just got the barrel achievement (kicked a torpedo goal 60m+), kicked it as Hodge... his run up started just a few cm ahead of the JLT logo on the wing.

Controls question:

In kickouts or even general kicks, when I hold L1 to lock on to a receiver and kick the ball, it doesn't always go to that player. Half the time it goes in a completely different direction. Am I understanding the lock on concept wrong?
Any help is appreciated

It will go to their advantage if they're leading, you have to get the power right.

They've dialled it back on high grabs I've noticed, way less speckies then usual, has anyone managed to take one since the update?

Maybe it's late at night, but this game is starting to wear thin for a few reasons.

1. The way the ball bounces out to the CPU in stride during a tackle.
2. The OP tackling is noticeable as Ive gone up in difficulty. You very rarely get time to do anything. The CPU zeroes in on you and you're caught.
3. The 1 on 1 setup is just too restrictive.

All in all, the game at the higher difficulty levels rarely has any flow. You can get handball chains working over the top, but there is no sideways handball or switch kicks or any ways to maintain possession. Rarely do you see anyone moderately loose. Ill be looking for a few things from the next AFL game.

i. Modern structures. The option to have loose players behind the ball is a must. Flooding/zones should be in.
ii. Tackling needs a major reworking. Players need to be able to get disposals away in tackles rather than always be buried. More missed tackles are necessary. Also, the tackling animation shuts down whatever disposal was coming up. Therefore quick gives in close are non-existent.
iii. Player movement needs reworking. They have no weight, all players can turn on a dime, and this results in the ping pong feel.
iv. A new camera setup is necessary. No reason to look too far. The TV broadcast nails it. Tight camera when the ball is in a pack, zoom out when in play, and maybe behind the player from a free kick/mark. At the moment most of us are just mashing when the ball is in a pack.

Lol if anything these patch "fixes" help the ****ing AI more.
That being said I had a ****ing lol game against Sydney.
I was missing goals i'd usually kick ez.
Anyway down by 14 I start to go serious mode.
I kick 2 goals in the last 5 mins and with a min left I win a mark HBF line.
I get it down quick and in the last 5 seconds the brownlow medalist Markov gets it, on the run alone from 20 metres....misses.
Lose by a point and not even mad, however sometimes goal kicking on the run is absolutely dog shit.

AI kicking is a billion times better, in a way I don't mind but when Josh Kennedy (SYD) is banging 6 from 50+m I get a bit ehhh.

Oh my lord, can I revert back to the old version?
The red metre is just so fast now and I am missing so many shots.
I'll be barely into that shit metre and miss by like 4000000m

I'm the complete opposite, i'm kicking more goals now, lol...

i don't think it's an issue..

most of those seem fairly minor criticisms to be honest...

i don't necessarily agree that the players feel light and i think they've definitely improved the ball physics in this game...

it's easily the best AFL game we've ever had and can be improved upon, but still fun to play.
