Bigant still working on a patch for DBC17. Basically a new game with patch 4 and it wasn't predicated on sales.

They also didn't rip gamemodes from an iOS game.
WW are releasing a patch for Evolution regardless of sales

If you bothered to read you would have seen that the patch that is dependent on sales is an "Enhancement Patch" which is a secondary patch presumably to adjust or even add features to the game rather than fix glitches and bugs

To them, what constitutes fixing a glitch and what constitutes an 'enhancement'? Wouldn't be surprised if they left a lot to the latter.

What?

DBC17 was a disaster and I liked the game but it was a disaster at launch and Evolution is nowhere near as buggy

So big ant made a buggy mess because they were "too ambitious" but get a free pass because a stadium editor is gonna be a great benefit for the series in the future yet WW cop shit because they implemented be a pro ?
I think your definition of a free pass is very different to my definition. Big Ant were hammered online.

I think he's refering to you going "Bradman was a mess but its all good coz they implemented a logo development" as giving them a free pass.

This goes to show why many of us were desperate for Big Ant to develop AFL games rather than Wicked Witch. Big Ant does all that they can in their foundation games to set up the future of the franchise.

Sure DBC17 had lots of problems at launch, but in retrospect those issues were because they were too ambitious with stuff like the logo creator, stuff that will benefit the series (and other Big Ant games) long into the future.

Hopefully DBC 17 can be fixed with a patch or two and that the logo creator is done right for their future games (i.e their upcoming tennis game).

I read the post mate. I suggest you read the comment thread that lone post was in again instead of blowing a tantrum because somebody criticised the hot mess you bought. Patch 4 is BigAnt's equivalent of an "enhancement patch", as I said before and you neglected to read, it's like a new game with the patch. They're releasing that because they want to improve the game, the release of the patch was never predicated on meeting sales targets unlike Wicked Witch.

Did Don Bradman have a glitch that renders the career mode completely useless? Because if you get suspended in the last round of Be A Pro you're ****ed.

Also, that second patch they mentioned if the game becomes profitable? Never happening. Cool, you were number 1 in Australia, an absolutely minuscule market. AFL Evolution won't chart on NPD and I'd be surprised if it is in the top 100 for games sold in May by the end of the month. I'd go out on a limb and say the most egregious bugs won't even get patched. They'll probably fix up players being called the wrong name and call it a day. It's no surprise the Australian game industry is practically dead with laziness like this.

I wonder if AFL Live 1 had the AFL support and marketing that Evolution had whether we'd be in this pickle.

For sure. The issues are easier to stomach when they're trying something revolutionary.

Big Ant don't get a free pass, they're copping a pasting over DBC17. They do however, get more leeway and patience because they have the runs on the board. DBC17 could afford to try something ambitious because DBC14 had already set the benchmark high. WW are 5 or 6 AFL games in and still trying to get their "base" right.

Lol you sound like some of my customers- you expect shit that takes a week to be done in a day.

Name one game this gen that's perfect upon release and hasn't required "patches"

I don't see how what I wrote can be interpreted as saying "its all good". I'm as big a Collingwood fan as they come, but I wish some people didn't see the world in black and white.

Could the same thing not be said for AFL:E?
The difference between BA and WW is that WW have never proven themselves competent sports games developers. The DBC and RRL games, as well as AFL Live, were all solid games from BA. Whatever problems they may have run into with DBC, that's very much an outlier and I would not consider them indicative of the dev not being able to handle developing a game like that. WW has never gotten to the point where they've produced anything that most fans would be happy with keeping in mind the size of the studio behind it, while I think BA has in multiple instances.

Holy shit. I just played online for the first time and what a ******* joke. First of all, Wicked Witch, your online infrastructure is a disaster. I have a great connection, yet no matter who I played there would be multiple moments where the ball teleports over the field. My favourite moments were when I won a free kick in the middle of the ground with Shaun Burgoyne, then instantly teleported to the other guy having a shot on goal, and another time where I fisted the ball through for a behind, only for the umpire to say I ran over the mark and then the opposition were kicking from the square.

Secondly, who's ******* bright idea was it to let people take custom teams online? It's lucky I'm able to mark like 90% of kicks and most other people have no clue, otherwise, I'd never even get close to winning. Every dickhead just uses a team of 22 99 OVR created players and completely ruins the fun of the game. Genuinely idiotic.

As it stands, the only way to truly have fun in this game is to play against your mates in person. Everything about online is a joke, and the AI, with garbage like the goal kicking and free kicks, makes offline play a dumpster fire most of the time. But go ahead and tell me how this is a great foundation and we should be thanking Wicked Witch for making easily the worst game released in 2017.
Thank you ( no sarcasim at all ) I actually thought I could get away with buying this on the weekend and having fun online - But your second point has ruined it for me.

I was hopeful that this could be a foundation for greater things to come, but I don't think theyve got a hope in hell.

From all reports their Lacrosse game was very good too. Can't wait to see what they manage to do with tennis.
