figured out the marking :thumbsu:

does anyone else find this game very satisfying...

by the way for those who have mentioned, it's not all one-on-one, it's not and you can change the positions to zone and press in options instead of man-on-man..

I've also read a few people mentioning crowd noise, you can turn that up in settings and the commentary to low..

Picked the game up this afternoon, played a quick game on beginner and smacked the Roos
Upped it up to medium and starting a coach career, beat the Demons in the first JLT match 139-88. Gonna give medium a bit more of a feel out, is there a huge gap between medium and hard?
I'm loving it so far, the last AFL game I played was back in 2005 so as you can imagine for me it's just great to have an AFL game, period.

For me there is. Try winning a clearance against the Giants on Hard. Nearly impossible.

Some bloke spent the whole last quarter wasting time in a close game. Made me a bit cross but it's all fair.

I would find it extremely difficult to waste time in the game given how players rarely peel off their opponents and how difficult short 20m kicks to a contest are to pull off. What was he doing?

Just using maximum time with each mark and set shot attempt, taking set shots from maximum distance and then just passing them off when called play on. With only 2.5 minute quarters he only need a few possessions in a row for out to add up.

you'd just have to mash the buttons at super fast speeds, lol.
Except you know what happens when you mash handball. Your players never take possession and just tap the ball to the opposition.

Marking just seems to be a matter of, positioning, running to the right spot, bumping the man and Y before the circle becomes solid...

a question is, should this be an easier feature????

Even coming from playing a lot of AFL Live 1, i can't imagine how hard it is for the casual gamer. You have to really think tactically and quickly just to get the basics, which isn't necessarily a bad thing as it can mean that it feels like being in a real game of modern football i suppose...

I really like some of the details in the game, like the side-step and dodge feature, the equivalent of a cross-over in basketball, stuff like that is somewhat impressive..

goal kicking with the thumb-stick is still something i'm trying to master, taking time, but a nice feature with wind direction and so on..

i think they've done a really good job on a small budget. Hoping that future games have more and more polished animations, but this is a step up on other games.

Obviously the mystery of a BA game eludes us still, but it's nice to have something out there to play like this..

Wish this game had score reviews. Got absolutely stooged when this was called a goal.

I don't mind the physics of the marking system, it's just that you have to do it so ridiculously early that it just doesn't natural at all. You shouldn't know that you've messed up a mark long before the ball even arrives at your player. Not to mention that intercepting those short stab kicks is impossible because the timing window barely appears before it's gone. It'd be like a cricket game making you play your shot and giving you your timing feed back before the ball is even bowled, as you then sit back and watch the ball get bowled and your player playing the shot.

The button press/release windows should be occurring far closer to the ball arriving at the player imo. The system can stay exactly the same, as it's a pretty good system, just move the timing to a more natural place.

Would love to hear some info about it, even a rough estimate would be great

I cant get into career mode knowing that i have to sit on the bench for the majority of the game, when that gets fixed then it could be cool

I think BigAntStudios didnt get the call up from true blue who hold the rights. I think that's how it works im not fully across it.

Taking me a while to get the hang of it alot left to be desired but i am enjoying it NOW.

But online is unplayable for me due to lag and bugs. Plus the be a pro no sim till on field is stopping me from playing a fav aspect of sport games for me.

Plus the complaints lack of league leader stats and Brownlow votes really disappointing

Yeah agree - there's many times you barely even get to see the marking contest until it's done or close to being done on some of the camera angles.

What's the difference between coach be a pro and competition mode

What's the difference between coach be a pro and competition mode
Coach is where you manage a team (very basic control of finances, drafting etc) as well as play games. Be a pro you control one player through his career. Competition you pick a team, or teams, and play through that competition, be it the TAC cup, AFLW Season, etc..

I reckon I've won ten in a row and that Bragging Rights trophy refuses to pop. They don't make it easy...

Edit: Got it - forfeits must reset the streak so I took the foot off the accelerator when I was winning by too much and allowed opponents to kick some goals so that they never felt totally out of the contest.

I'm not sure why there is so much talk about quality of online games. I've had minimal issues and it's a much better quality game against a person than AI.

When you buy more copies of the game.

Remember how Bethesda said that people would need to buy more copies of Prey before they fixed the input lag and save corruption issues?
I got a message saying they were releasing a patch.
