Anyone managed to get the kick a torpedo goal from 60 out yet? I've done it so many times in so many different situations and nothing pops.

This is another trophy that's a bit hit or miss. I got mine from the centre square on the run in pro career. It went through on the full too, but I don't know if that makes a difference.

I decided to stay off here for a week and give the game a go without hearing what other people where saying.

I have to say initially I was impressed, I mean graphically it's good to be able to play an AFL game and have a lot of players instantly recongniseable. Like Rance Dusty Jack at the tigers.

The first half a dozen games was a hard slog getting used to the game and initially I found the game play enjoyable.

A few days later and I stopped playing the game and probably won't play it again. The minor details like Drew Petrie lining up on the wing for West coast and Michael Barlow at full back for Gold Coast are annoying but I think the most boring aspect of the game is that it's basically a tackle fest again which lead to free kicks against you and when you finally get a free it's advantage and you get caught holding the ball.

The game play becomes very stale when it's basically a spoil and tackle fest, hack the ball along. It's totally nothing like real AFL football and I think that's the problem that a game will never be able to fully achieve decent game play.

Soccer, NBA, Golf, Cricket and so on can be much easier replicated in a game whereas AFL is a lot harder.

Things like switching the play which is frequent in a real game of AFL can't be done on these games so you can never break the field open by kicking side ways or backwards to a player who is all alone and then spread open on the opposite side of ground.

I'll keep the game and see what the patch does and it's okay when your playing against someone else but there's not much life in this game unfortunately.

Is there no option to change the safe area? I thought it was my fault that objectives and other hud elements were barely on the screen, but I found out that there is no overriding xbox option for this, it is handled game by game. So if the patch could actually put the entire HUD on my TV that would be grand.

Just played my most enjoyable game so far. Round 2 of my be a pro coach mode up against the Swans. As you can see was pretty tight up until about 5 in game minutes left in the 3rd, a whole lot of back and forth. Eventually ran over them in the 4th though. One gripe is that Sydney missed waaay too much, which is happening a lot in the games I played it would have been much closer had they been more accurate

Buddy was dangerous, kicked 2-3 in a row to put em up at halftime. Boyd killed it lmfao, I don't really like kicking hauls like that with a single player, albeit few of em were shots that just feel short of the goal line and he managed to mark em though

Must say this game isn't as bad as I first thought it would be. I've managed to get reasonably better at marking but there are some really annoying issues with the game . I've been playing in rookie mode where you control your own character (on hard) and the kicking by the AI is horrible I mean I set up Ben Brown right in the goal square and 9 times out of 10 he misses likewise for the opposition and then there's the issue of when you push your player too much he gets taken off for the whole game where you are given a choice to either watch or simulate the match. I mean I wouldn't have much of a problem with it if it was only done for that quarter but it wasn't and it's extremely annoying people buy games to play them not sit back and watch or simulate the match.

If we take a look at NBA 2K17, we see a game where the details are intricately polished over from each release...
Considering this, the new AFL game has some pretty cool features itself, like detailed stadium design, good player animations...
it's just not as polished as your 2K games in terms of depth of detail, but not bad either...

future games you'd hope to start seeing that polished element to animations, movement and so forth..

But i think first they need to fix some of the obvious glitches..

Got the game, spent a few days to get a grip on things.. Went online, won my first game lost my next 2. Played on medium and smashing teams, moved to hard and couldnt get near it. Basically if the op wins it out of the centre I'm screwed, it's hard to stop momentum. It's basically a raffled where the ball spills in contest and players just run all over the place and half the time you've got no idea what's going on. I think if I become really good it would be enjoyable as an online game, other than that I have gone back to 2k17 and started a franchise with Orlando and drafted Dennis Smith Jnr. Much more enjoyable.

Lets not forget that NBA2k17 is a much easier sport to develop and play..

I have. An absolute monster torp from Nic Nat, that was shepherded through by Kennedy. Felt like this (except from a set shot):

Speaking of which, I love being able to shepherd through goals in this, feels nice and intuitive.

Have also started a Season and have started to notice the commentary bug where they get the names wrong. Never witnessed it in Single Match mode, but vs North in Round One it was horrendous. Both teams they stuffed up. They kept calling Darling Cripps and they never got Goldstein right either.

I have to say, this game is bloody enjoyable!!!

I don't get those complaining about it... Yes it's not as polished as Fifa but c'mon... Did you actually think it would be?

There are just so many variables in aussie rules, I think they have done a great job with it :thumbsu:

For those on xbox, feel free to add me: KELSTAN2009

yeh it really is a good game in it's own right and it's actually a very well made sports game.

i really want to do an analysis video on the cool aspects of the game, eventually.

one thing i like of quite a few things is the stadiums/choices and animations/design of the grounds, look great.

gameplay is pretty awesome overall, huge step up on Live 2. always room for improvement.

also, if you turn off the commentary and you turn up the crowd noise and sound FX it's also more enjoyable, there are lots of small features like that in the game that make it good..etc

It's the first AFL game that introduces certain features and gameplay that we haven't seen before, i won't go into here, those who have played it already know...

Cheers for the commentary/sound fx tip...Commeti is tolerable (but tiresome) and how the hell did Richo get a gig?

i think it's just better to focus on the game, hence why turning down commentary helps to focus on playing the game so it's nice that you can turn up other sound effects....
