I am yet to make a public comment on the AFL Evolution game and will not.

I am commenting regarding comments about my game, and I do find the FIFA references totally amusing.

I go to the AFL every week I can, I remain a committed fan of the sport, and as a long suffering Carlton fan I don't think my passion about the sport itself can be questioned, which is why I am still on this site, FWIW I was at an AFL breakfast this morning.
The blues are on the up sos weitering curnow cripps seton all future stars rowe and casbolt becoming great bookends and kruezer finally getting a good run at it and we allir get to see how good he actually is

Anyone else noticed how home ground advantage is a thing in career mode ? (at least on legend anyway)

It's a nice little touch to add depth to whatever confidence system the game has

Does it still apply when you're playing your home games at random grounds

Way easier to do a game with about half the animations and a far simpler technicalities. Can spend more time doing the icing when the cake is simpler.
As opposed to WW, who don't even try making a cake but instead pour cheap icing and sprinkles on a plate and call it done?

There are parts of Evolution that are really good. Game breaking glitches are bad, but they don't undo the fact that some is genuinely good.

I stated from day one that the game was unfinished though. I am not however going to get too carried away with a cut scene of a game that is easier to make on just about every front, from the graphics to the intricacies of the game.

Yeah, BA have a habit of prioritising presentation over gameplay. Just look at their AFL game. Unlike Wicked Witch who only ever bothered showing player models, modes and cutscenes until the day of release.

Just not remotely true. The multiple-player tackling and tackle driving systems alone have more animations than most sports games, including AFL. It's the reason Big Ant invested in the purchase of a full motion capture facility.

Which is such a great thing for the future of Australian gaming! Great to see you guys growing be awesome for next dbc have different bowlers actions animated like the malinger sling or the murili err hmm "flick" good luck with South African spin bowler Paul adams.

Just thinking of possibilities for a future afl game with the full motion capture facility. You could have multiple players tackling a player that is hard to bring down or different animations for disposing of the ball in the tackle, getting the arms free for a hand ball or dropping it onto the boot or kicking it as being slung. Could be a mini game in its self with different tackling techniques and animations of the player trying to break them or get rid of the ball.

Not the mention the fun you could have with the speckie bag for pack marks. Even going back with the flight.

Alas you would need the rights all well we still have dbc

Getting back into it, while Injustice 2 is still my main game, I'm returning to AFL Evolution for a few games here and there. Gotta try and get the back to back to back achievement! Almost at the end of season 2 for Brisbane (technically third rookie/pro season, since year 1 was at VFL level). Defending premiers were looking shaky... was in the top 6... but I've been out for nearly half the season (get suspended, come back 4 weeks later, play a few games, get suspended again, return a few weeks after that, get injured and before I know it.... it's round 23 - Brisbane on top 2 and a half games clear of second).

Would love to know the trigger point of getting the 155 attribute points after a match, even after having a blinder (eg: 50+ possessions 7+ goals) get nothing as reward. Seems like it only happens every couple of matches.. I want my player skill to average over 90 dang it!!

Had a game against Melbourne, started off weak (allowing Jack Watts to kick a goal), but got in the groove by the second quarter, piled on 4 goals... to eventually run away with the game by 60 points. I loved intercepting a kick in (weak kick inside 50), while it wasn't a Hodgey 2014 style mark..... the ball spilled out of a contest, I picked up the crumb and punished them with a goal.

I am yet to make a public comment on the AFL Evolution game and will not.

I'm going to read into this a little bit too much but I do assume since you didnt make even a mildly positive notion ('It's better than I expected' etc) that you think the game is crap.

Still better than Live 2 though. Come on Ross, indulge us..... ;)

It would be diabolical if he made made public comment ridiculing wicked witch. His own games are overpriced, festering, steaming piles of bug riddled shit too.

BigAnt laid the foundation and I'll be grateful for them reintroducing AFL into the video game world. But I actually like AFL Evolution's game play a lot more than the tackle-fest AFL Live was.

Tell us what you really think! Would like to see you attempt to make a game

I used to stuff around on the C64 and Quickbasic and Visual Basic on the computer :D (VB calculators FTW :P)

Trigger point is 155 pts everytime you level up. So if you can get a couple of season objectives completed in 1 match it's accually possible to get 310pts after a game.

Ross if you do manage to nail that multi-tackling, that's a huge effort. Madden still struggles with it.

Could rattle off a few season objectives in 10 minute quarters I reckon. I was able to do a lot of them just on 5 minute quarter lengths! :D. I have a few now that are handball, kick and mark related that could be done in a single game :D.

Thanks I wasn't aware, one of the few things in the game that confused me.

All good. The hardest season objectives I'm finding to complete is scoring assists. Handball to teammates or hit them on the tit in the goal square and then they still manage to kick a point or even worse run the ball over the goal line.

I've been lucky with them, while yes they fluff up the shot at goal more often than not, I gradually whittle the total down game by game (depending on quarter length). Even if they only kick 1 out of 9 attempts, it's still 1 step closer!.

Shot accuracy can depend on difficulty and team you are facing. as I mentioned weeks ago, I've had many games where the AI barely misses (on Legend).

Hit them about 30 out. I find it's pretty reliable then. Westhoff doesn't miss, contrary to reality.

The only real bad thing about this is the lack of open forward space. A thing I tried for soccer goals was just to pass it in front of me and kick it off the ground, but there was always another forward there to pick it up out kick it themselves before I got a chance.

Hi all,

Now that the game has broken street date, all base game discussion should go in here. Created players/teams, mods and ratings discussion should go in the relevant threads, as they have previously.

Hi I am not sure if this is the right place for this post
I am in the USA and am using a Mac desktop and wanted to know where and how to purchase a game I can play that has AFL footy in it?
Thanks
