I have some questions to submit for Q&A.


  • Can I create a player? If so do I have an unrestricted ability to set his stats?
  • Will the game have a library of names that if used by created players, will be spoken by commentators? (first or last name)
  • Will there be the ability to trade?
  • Will there be a NAB cup with NAB cup rules?
  • Will there be custom tournaments?


Suggestions

  • A rule editing section for custom tournaments (i.e. turn on 9-point goals, play on from a hit the post that returns to play or no marks for backwards kicks).
  • Team creation. Ability to create a new team and choose a moniker etcm then draft players or create custom players to fill the team.
 
BigAntStudios is there a possibility there could be a draft year team or a rising star team in the game?

Also is there a chance of a "dream team" type feature where you can pick any players from any team into one team and play your mates?

Hey Ross can you give us some insight on what the menu will look like if possible.

i.e quick play, season, online, create a player.

Are you allowed to give us that? All this talk of the AFL game and its progress is making me get very excited!

maybe another players tattoo, a stadium or anything else

Christ that tattoo is impressive!

I'm pretty excited for this game, everything that's been said so far sounds promising. As for testers, HBK is a certainty, surely? :p

I'd love for a game in the future, to have a 'Be a pro' mode. Where you start off with a VFL club, or TAC cup club until draft time, where you then go to VFL clubs / AFL. Much like FIFA.
 
Really impressed with everything we've heard in the last few days.

Hard to say whether or not the game needs split-screen without seeing the gameplay but at the moment I'm feeling comfortable trusting BigAnt. :p

I'm guessing it's one of those things they can't announce yet but very interested if there's a Create-a-Player and ofcourse the Gold Coast Suns.

Thanks for answering all our questions. But I have been busting to know what the kicking for goal on the run and set shot engine will be like in the game. Because the one from the 2007 and 2006 games were really annoying. Any hints on that would be much appreciated.

Just like to say, both glimpses we've seen of graphics (Betts and Swan) have been impressive and I'm really excited about this game. Good stuff.

Also, it seems alot of people are asking for a lot of additional stuff in the game like Be A Pro, video clips, mini games etc, which i think are pretty unrealistic. Also, there's no point asking for things to be implemented if we're as close to the release as we THINK we are, ie before the end of the 2010 season. I'd also say it's a distinct possibility that there might not even be a career mode, perhaps just a season mode. I hope not but I wouldn't be all that surprised.

Still very pumped about the game though, and love the interaction that Ross is giving here.

Forgive me if I'm being slow, but have the GC been named?

EDIT: And so they have! I'd also just like to add in, I personally prefer real world stats as opposed to everyone having an even shot.

As for a gameplay addition, I think it would be an awesome idea to include looped handballs that you can put over the head of the opposition, rather than just stock ones like in the previous titles that are exactly the same. Perhaps there could be some way of varying the trajectory of each handball. That in itself would add alot to the game I reckon.
 
pwoaaaaah graphics look awesome! really looking forward to the game coming out. Oh and I am assuming that Jack Riewoldt will be 99 overall.:D

As for a gameplay addition, I think it would be an awesome idea to include looped handballs that you can put over the head of the opposition, rather than just stock ones like in the previous titles that are exactly the same. Perhaps there could be some way of varying the trajectory of each handball. That in itself would add alot to the game I reckon.

Handball can be to a player directly or to space - the trajectory is dealt with by the system - there are "look aways" and over the head handballs, etc...

Additionally, we have implemented a control mechanism for both handball and kicks that players can choose to "lock" to a team mate, allowing for strafing and drawing the opposition.

Game is sounding great! I remember visiting acclaim many many moons ago getting hands on during the development of their AFL game back on the trusty old original xbox. Getting some insider insight into the process of making a game, how decisions are reached is always great. Thanks for sharing what you can BigAntDude :)

By over the head handball you mean over the opposition's head? Or over your own head to get out of trouble?
