A final-10 is a good idea. It was 8 teams making it in a 16 team league. We have added three teams yet not increased the finalists, so it makes sense to have 10 making it in a (soon to be) 19 team league.

But it's not a "wild card" They are just elimination finals in a 5-week final-10

It's like saying that the current final-8 is really just a final 6 with a "wild card of "5v8 and 6v7"

They are just elimination finals, so call them that.

It's the wrong final-10 through. Should be the knockout final-10 that I've been promoting for years.

Just when I thought that the AFL had ruined top level Aussie Rules enough, they sink to a new low.

I reckon that in a few years, we’re going to go to Mark Williams’ statistically proven idea of a top 13 being the fairest finals system you can get.

However I’m gonna get on board, and introduce recalculate historical finals appearances Colin Carter style.
Port Adelaide were on a measly 14 finals appearances in 29 seasons, but we’ve also finished 9th twice and 10th on 6 occasions.

Now we’re on 22 out of 29, better than 75 % strike rate.

This is the year the AFL says “**** you” to the fans. Stand rule was doubled down on, Opening round is still here, now the wildcard round. Make no mistake the Twilight Grand Final will happen this year too. Despite a consistent 75% of fans saying they want it to remain a day Grand Final.

This is the year the AFL turn their back on those that matter.

They’ll do it, because they know they’re now too big to fail. Andrew Dillon knows he won’t be there long term, so he’ll be used to force through the unpopular changes. It’s over.

23 weeks to spud it up and finish 10th, but win 5 weeks in a row and become premiers? The possibility should not be allowed to even exist.

And we're back to finals based on "lowest ranked previous winner" etc etc again. yay.

And all whilst the stats are piling up to suggest that's it's almost a disadvantage to win a Qualifying Final?
