AFL Live 2

Come on, guys. You're telling me there were no issues with the interchange in afll1? How about the freezing game when you'd activate the sub? I used to have to turn off automatic interchange because for some reason it'd put Lonergan up in the ruck and Ottens on the ball.

In terms of player speed, in afll1 I'd constantly be run down as Motlop or Rioli by any sort of player, including ruckmen. This isn't just something that happens in this new game.

In goal kicking and general kicking around the game in afll2, how are people only kicking it 5m? I was able to chip it around or bomb it long by my second game of playing it.

I just think everyone is looking back on afll1 like it was FIFA or an NBA 2k game. It was flawed as heck, and we all know that. In terms of which one is better, well that's your own opinion, but I think people are a bit blinded by their misty-eyed nostalgia for afll1.

For pretty much the first ever game with an flowing AI and human interchange system it worked damn well. Ive played a lot of hours on AFL 1, and the game might of frozen once.

In terms of player speed the game was designed so your speed was reduced when you were in possession of the ball - sort of like real footy...it stopped the old get the ball and run the entire field loophole

In terms of thinking AFL Live 2 is a better game, mate:

Wait, it gets worse. That small ruckman is now your permanent ruckman...why? Because there are no general interchanges, so if your original ruckman is ready to come back on, he wont leave the bench for the rest of the game.

You can change it as long as you're not in a ruck contest at the time you pause.

My initial thoughts after playing for around 5 hours.
Anything not listed below has worked fine for me so far.

CAMERA ANGLE
The side camera angle is far too high as if you were at the top of the MCG northern grand stand. This camera angle should simulate watching the game on TV which is much lower.

KICKING FOR GOAL ON THE RUN
The length of kicks is good however the trajectory is too low and flat. There should be more height on kicks with a drop towards the end as the ball sails through. Majority of goals on the run are sailing through below halfway on the posts which isn’t realistic.

BALL BOUNCE WHEN NOT IN POSSESSION
The amount of bounce in the ball is over the top and not realistic. Sometimes the ball from a kick has bounced higher than the actual kick itself.

SIDE SELECTION
Anything regarding selecting / making changes to a team line up should be via an interface that incorporates a football ground layout with positions.

BREAKS BETWEEN QUARTERS
Showing the quarter by quarter score is something fans would expect and game highlights as well

STATISTICS
Splitting game stats into so many tabs isn’t ideal. Most of the AFL apps that incorporate stats can fit most of them on one page.
You should be able to view season stats by ALL players and not just by each team separately. I want to see how my players are going compared to the rest of the league without scrolling through every team.

MAN OF THE MATCH
I’m very curious to understand how man of the match is calculated as it seems heavily weighted towards goals rather than being balanced with possessions. The weighting points used in AFL Dream Team or Super Coach would be a great guide in nailing this aspect of the game.

TEAM LINE UP & INTERCHANGE SETTINGS
This is rather confusing having 2 settings as setting TEAM LINE UP to manual & INTERCHANGE to auto will have no effect on the interchange (no auto interchanges will be made.
I think you just need the INTERCHANGE setting as the TEAM LINE UP setting is basically asking the same question.

SOUND EFFECTS

This definitely needs some attention as the crowd involvement is just not there. I can hear the sound of the ball bouncing along the ground over the crowed which honestly reminded me of sounds that were on the commodore 64. Sound is one area that I’ve never been impressed with on AFL games.

Everyone is saying there are no team songs... The team songs are in the game. Wait until the commentators finish their post game talk and the winners song will play

I think it actually a really good game. The players spread out more. The players actions are really good to and realistic.

I don't think people can hear you. Try a bigger font.

Now heres one of the worst game reviews I've ever seen. I think he may be trolling though.

I reccomend skipping to 4:10 :p

That review made me crack up. 4:10 was funny. Haha. From the looks of it, it looks like a good game considering it took them a year or so to make and the features they've added. I haven't yet played it but another AFL game is always a good thing in my eyes.

One reason as to why I think all of you hate this game... From all the gameplay videos you all seem to be pressing the sprint button right after the mark... WTF is wrong with you why do you do this. Its possibly one of the reasons why you feel the game is shit.

(Watching all the youtube videos and it seems obvious to me that this is the reason)

Eventhough I don't have this game, it seems to be one of the best PS/XBOX AFL games out there.

I think you need to get back to work... you're meant to be making a patch/DLC ;)

Can't like that enough. Actually, I might make another account just to like it again. :P

I never said one game was better than another, "mate".

What is with almost every AFL game stuffing up which foot people kick on. Ballantyne as a left footer? Walters as a right? WTF???

If that was the worst part of this game, then I think we could be reasonably happy. Unfortunately there is FAR more to be looking at before which foot people are kicking on.

On the note of insignificant, but frustrating bugs. Why does the whistle go after every score? God its frustrating.

This game is so bad, I think they have obviously rushed to get this out during the AFL Finals but if they had put that extra 6 months into it and released at the start of next season it might have been worth our time and money. Ross and Big Ant must be pretty disappointed that the game they created has been followed by this half assed effort, if anything the game should not be called AFL Live as it has no association to the original game whatsoever. Big Ant actually worked hard on there game and to have this new game out has tarnished the AFL Live name.
