Still plugging away at the game, i think it's a good thing that i am only playing briefly (although it is hindering my overall progress), if i was attempting to play it as my main game.... i would have lost at least one controller by now (which wouldn't matter as such as i have 5 others as backup :D :thumbsu:). I just feel that i am taking a step forward, yet multiple steps backward. I hope to improve at the game a lot more in coming weeks, enough to be able to do what the cpu ai does against me on lots of occasions (able to create space, and run through without an issue). Happened to me a lot while playing on professional, they get posession at half back, and run it to their 50m.... or able to run inside their own 50m and create a scoring opportunity.

I know learning the ins and outs of the game mechanics takes time (heck i go through it with fifa and nba 2k each year!!), i do enjoy the challenge.... and what i am experiencing in the close contests..... is much better than me winning by 10 goals.... or being walloped by 10 goals.
 
Not sure if it's been running for a while or not, but just saw the AFL Live ad for the first time at 3 qtr time of the Lions v Tigers match on Fox Sports 1.

As far as I could tell, it was basically the trailer we have already seen. Poor old dad didn't know what it was when it came on as he wouldn't know a video game if he fell over one, but he did say it looks "so real" :thumbsu:

Interestingly though, the ad was only for the PS3 version. That becasue the 360 version has sold out basically everywhere Ross?

Not necessarily. Lots of video games are advertised for PS3 only, as if they are exclusive titles, even though they are coming out on other platforms. Must just be Sony's advertising money.

Are the jumper sponsors being added for the teams that are missing them?

Not in the patch. This patch is for gameplay alone.

Something I would like in the next installment of the game is the ability to edit body shape.

You'll be happy - it's definitely going to make it into the player creator, saw the guys playing with it this week.
 
Im not the only one complaining and it IS a big deal. relaistic scores?? hello?

its insane they have 3 minutes 5 minutes then JUMP to 10 minutes then 12 minutes and so on AND THE BEST most APPROPRIATE TIME is 7 MINUTES!!!!

Surely not hard to implement. And for me it ruins this game. Honestly. This game would be 100% better with 7 minute realistic scores. It would be perfect. It is a big deal needs to be rectified.

I can tell you from our online stats that there is no time period that will bring realistic scores, the score is based on the player - the guys in the office have realistic scores on 3 minutes, others require ten minutes. It is more than likely that we will allow variable quarters of 1 minute increments in the next version however as trophies and othe code is dependant on time we cannot afford to the risk of implementing new time settings and having something go wrong.

There was a good suggestion in another thread which I'm not sure if Ross read. But it sounds like it would be fairly easy to fix.

Now that I've turned up the difficulty I'm noticing that it can be costly when you don't know if you've got the ball or don't. If it's not fixed it a patch it should definitely be fixed in a future game.

Brought this up a couple weeks ago, but I'm unsure if a change is going to be implemented in the patch. If there is going to be a change, Ross hasn't mentioned it.

Fair enough, understand you cant do it in a patch... its not just the player though the SIM scores on 5 minutes get 60 or 70 at best with low scores of 7.
1 minute increments would be great. The gameplay is great i want to say that. I don't want to complain, it is a great game to play, and know it will only get better.
 
A very minor thing I noticed tonight with the game and it's probably not going to be easy to explain but here goes anyway...

In the "team management" menu before games, when you go into either "team lineup" or "tagging" it comes up with a list of all your players and above that it has a graphic of a footy field with different coloured dots representing all the different playing positions. Well when you go to the "tagging" section and highlight a player from the list, the wrong dot is highlighted. For example, if you highlight your fullback from your list of players, then one of the back pocket dots on the footy field graphic will be highlighted. If you highlight a back pocket player from your list, then the full back dot on the graphic will be highlighted. Happens for all positions I think.

When you go into "team lineup" though, the correct dots are highlighted on the graphic relative to which player you are highlighting from your list of players (ie. If you highlight your fullback from the list of players, then the fullback dot will be highlighted on the graphic like it should).

By highlighting a player from the list of players, I mean just scroll over them with the d-pad or left stick but don't press any button on them.

Hard to explain and not a big issue at all, just wondering if anyone else has noticed this?

I did notice this but I couldn't work out what was causing it so never bothered to bring it up. I thought maybe it might have been happening once I'd swapped players around but it seems not. Kudos on working it out, hopefully they can fix it.

Ross in the patch after this one are you and the team looking to add 7 or 8 minute quaters?
 
Why were injuries turned down? I think injuries should have stayed the same during season mode to compensate for no suspensions. There isn't a lot of team management that is required otherwise.

Ok. I just thought it would be an easy fix that you may have forgotten about, rather than hope to put it in the next patch (if another one is released at all).

The teams without it look rather weird. Other than that of course it doesn't matter - hopefully it can be implemented soon.

This is online question, Does anyone know how to get some of the badges like the ones with Weekly or Monthly written on them? or the one with the 4 dudes or the one with the house? because i really want to get all the badges.

I believe the patch actually gives better descriptions of the badges and the levels of each, I know the Big Ant badge is particularily shown before the match so you know it's up for grabs :)
 
When playing the game, if i go with the man on the mark while the opposition is taking a setshot, i can run around and bump the person taking the setshot and the ball spills and is just called play on. Does this happen to anyone else?
 
Yea but it was taking 5 mins and it probs would of taken another 2 years to save, what else could i do?????
You just have to wait. If it stayed like that for good then it's likely there was some bug or issue. But quitting out will instantly corrupt your file so it's really the last resort you should be taking if you care for that stuff.

Thanks for the answer. I think that if the developers said that it was to compensate for the lack of suspensions during the season that would have worked as well.

I know it will come in later editions (and I can't wait for them!) but there isn't really too much squad management required thus far.
 
This game is gonna be perfect now, thank you so much Ross. Making it harder and allowing my edited teams into season mode has made it great, this game is the best sports game I have ever played, the after sales service by Big Ant has been top notch and I will definitely buy from you again. unlike Codemasters who I have lost faith in forever.

Details:
  • Season mode will progress without need to simulate AI games first.
  • Increased difficulty when playing legend
  • Decrease injury count
  • Matchmaking based on player skill, number of players, and reliability
  • Allow modified teams online
  • Salary Cap changed to 6.5Million for starting 22 (same as current Collingwood cap)
  • Anti-Rage code awards a win if 18 points have been scored or a minimum time has been reached (time is a random time from 0 to 4 minutes).
  • Add players met functionality to PSN
  • Show PSN/XBLA ID prior to game selection
  • Save team lineup selections for online play
  • Save controller settings online (ie manual player select)
  • Only show Mike if microphone is attached
  • Reliability loss due to quitters/loss of connection will be fixed and previous loss due to this will be restored.
  • Display best streak in leaderboard
  • PS3 issue when controller goes to sleep
  • Ball up/throw in – punch through goals/behind to award free kick
  • Ball up/throw in – punch out of bounds to award free kick
  • PStewart and DStewart stats reversed
  • Jeff Darling => Jack Darling

There are other items but to announce them would alert people to potential online exploits.

The only thing I hate about the game is the controller configuration.

I get massive hand cramps and strained left wrist from holding down right bumper constantly for player sprinting. (xbox player)

Can you please give us the option to come up with our own allocation of buttons or just give us another option of controls that changes sprint to holding in right trigger and then making the right bumper as the kick modifier.

PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
