The Roo Shop is now selling the new AFL Live game.

AFL Live available on PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii

Anyone played it already?

Same price at EB as it is at the Roo Shop, so I know where my money will be going when I get it.

Chris and the team do a fantastic job @ the Roo Shop.

According to some on BF AFL Games board, its the best game out and the online feature is superb.

When I save up and get a PS3, will be the first game I get. Can't wait.

Any reviews from people on here?

Havent played it yet, am waiting for the Zero Date patch which will fix most of the "gamebreaking" problems.

Has received semi favourable reviews. Supposed to be the best AFL game yet (which isnt hard though)

Get it pricematched to dick smith price which is supposedly 79 dollars, EB charging their usual (crap overpricing) 109

Interesting to see the Roo Shop info has Wii listed, thats not out yet.

Bought it, played a few games, returned it.

Expected mediocre but it was absolute rubbish. AFL98 was the last (and only) decent AFL game.

I'd buy it from EB Games so you can at least try it and return it if you don't like it.

The game looks pretty good actually, here's some NM related information:

North Melbourne team Ranking - 3/5 equal lowest along with Richmond, West Coast. Brisbane and Melbourne are 3.5/5

North Melbourne default starting lineup

Selected NM Player ratings that someone managed to type up:
North Melbourne
H. McIntosh - 89/100
D. Petrie - 87/100
A. Swallow - 86/100
S. Thompson - 85/100
D. Wells - 85/100
B. Harvey - 85/100
B. Rawlings - 84/100

I believe that the player ratings have individual attributes like marking, kicking etc that make up the overall score

Brent Harvey looks pretty good

Majak a little less so

I disagree with you, I like it, no not the greatest game in the world, but it is a good game of footy, something I have rally been waiting for. 6 out of 10 I give it.

have you tried out the player creator yet, and more importantly have you created Wayne Carey for your roster?

Picked it up today in Sydney... EB had it for $110 but I got if for $79 because Dick Smith in the CBD had one copy left.

Once AFL Teams is over I'm gonna fire it up.

Not too fussed about quality, just stoked to have a chance to see North win tonight.

Love it. Highly recommended. It's for a certain type of gamer though, you have to be mad keen on the idea of an AFL game AND be willing to forgive it of some shortcomings (i.e. no franchise mode) AND learn some initially confusing and tricky controls. But after that it's pretty cool, just don't expect an Aussie Rules version of FIFA.

Have to add North supporters get an extra challenge - we're rated at the lowest rating outside of the Suns, sharing a 3/5 ranking with Port, Richmond and West Coast. Although that's probably fitting atm.

I suspect Mr Chief has access to some high grade pharmaceuticals. It's certainly not saying much to declare it, but it's easily the best AFL game so far.

Damn, busted! hehe fair enough. I will give it a few more days and see if I can get into it, but at the moment I'm not won over.

Probably a good idea. If not only because where else are you gonna get your next gen AFL video game fix, the lessons learned from the previous NRL game may come into play. I heard of a lot of people that gave it limited play and hated it but those that took the time to delve into it later regarded as one of the better sport sims out there. I guess seeing as how we are dealing with the same developers this one may be a slow burner.

But, lets be honest. It's friggin' AFL. Remember how flawed Aussie Rules Football was on the NES but that was probably one of the finest titles of all time.

Shit game. Total waste of money, The tackling is not realistic, as soon as you have the ball you are tackled. 4.5/10

Never liked the other AFL games and most likely won't purchase this one. Not writing it off just yet.....I'll probably borrow it off a mate later in the year and give my opinion then.

If only EA sports made an AFL game

EA made AFL 98 and AFL 99.

Yes the tackling is the biggest downside of the game, but every other area is enjoyable enough.

I don't want to ride the wagon too hard - it's early days - but similar to what FTW said this part of the game is much less an issue when you start getting the hang of the flow of the game. Also set midfield to 'balanced' instead of 'defensive' and tap it to in front of your rover - clearances get a bit easier. Also try a few games on rookie difficulty - in the end you'll be pummeling the opposition and wondering where the tacklefest went.

It's a pretty fun game once you get the hang of it. The learning curve is very steep though (got smashed in the first few games ont he easiest difficulty until we got the hang of the controls).

I am playing rookie level at the moment and not having too much trouble, except for goal kicking (perhaps replicating the real North Melbourne) I am hoping the harder levels are actually really hard and not conquered in five games unlike other AFL games.

The guys that designed and coded the game actually post on bigfooty, they are constantly perusing the AFL Game sub forum reading complaints and noting them down for patches etc. One of the good things about using a local developer.

Ross (one of the designers) has said multiple times that clearances are all about timing, and correct tactics, once you get this down pat the tacklefest (supposedly) dissapears.

Ross (and Big Ant) has been an absolute gem on the VG Board. They have been very active in listening to the BF gamers and the game is very much made by the fans in this aspect.

Ross is also the CEO of Big Ant (developers of the game) and has been posting on here with updates and taking suggestions for the last few years. Seems to have a huge passion for AFL and making a good game.

He also plays online on PSN and XBL ("RossAtBigAnt").

Sounds too tricky for kids? Adults at our place are not into games at all, but the boys are always playing Nintendo on the Wii - no idea whether it's something to look at getting them, or better to leave until they are up to the controls (and therefore old enough to buy their own).

There's an AFL Wii game coming out in May which sounds like it is a bit more "arcadey"

Upon reflection I am shithouse at the game and need to get the hang of it. Lol I brought Majak in this week and he got slaughtered in the ruck against Graham but I managed to take a hanger somehow on his head.

I will give it time. Camera view shits me a bit though.
