Some good points there regarding the Andergrove Kangaroos ,couldn't agree more.
If they were to enter the league the result would be the collapse of Bakers Creek who appear to be really struggling and this would be their demise.
Would be far more prudent IMO to assist Moranbah somehow to become more competitive.Better still would be to lock up a lucrative long term deal with Harrup Park that would see more games played there.![]()
Regardless of the Bakers Creek arrangement the Andergrove Senior team should be highly encourage and supported for the growth and development of afl in the andergrove, beacy and slade point area, but having said that it's no use starting a new club if it causes an exiting club to fold.
Theres two questions i pose , 1st one being have Backers Creek been to relient on the andergrove juniors being a feeder club to them and not worked hard enough to field their own junior teams concidering they have there own township plus Sarina down the road and small pocket towns along the beach and the highway, or question 2, is there just not enough afl interest in those areas and if Andergrove do field their own senior team Backers will eventually fold?
Theres no way i want to see any clubs fold , unless their a detriment to any league, but for the league to be healthy and afl to grow in mackay there needs to be more teams.
I know its easier said than done but thats just my opinion.
I agree that is the way to go and is the way your own club got a start actually winning 5 consecutive Reserve Grade flags from 1985-1989.I think Andergrove should have to start of in the reserves. It would mean that the ressies dont have the Mooroonbah bye and gives Andergrove a chance to get them selves sorted and set up.

pretty sure most of heard andergrove was ruled against by all senior clubs at the last league meeting. i seen it copming from day 1 hearing that andergrove was starting a side. from what i have heard as a player from other players, bakers wasnt tha only club to lose players. alot of players from city clubs were really keen to leave so ofcourse the clubs were going to vote against andergove. as much as i would love to see more teams in the league we need more interest from more players so clubs dont struggle with numbers and angergrove can enter the league

Methinks keyposition might know PINNACLE HEALTHPINNACLE HEALTH, mate why do you post so in depth like Kevin Sheedy? Has something gone to your head and now feel the need to post with such interlect?
Love the modest signature aswel.
Dunno about Whitsunday but North's new coach is Scott Thomas ,a blond headed fellow who has been at the clyb for a few years.Has Nth Mackay & Whitsunday annouced there coach for this season yet?

Gav got the job for the Sea Eagles. Training kicks off Monday night. The club had a working bee today at the club rooms and 25 players turned out to help out which is a good start to the year.Has Nth Mackay & Whitsunday annouced there coach for this season yet?
But like all mackay sides they just don't like to travel.
This ''arrangement''was never going to work'' and didn't give Andergrove a realistic chance of getting on the ground.Personally i struggle to see how playing two reserve grade standard teams in Moranbah can possibly help football in Mackay grow or develope.
Surely it would be wiser to have a team playing in the high growth Northern Beaches area rather than out at a coal mine. Can not see any logic behind this decision at all.....How long does anyone think they will hold their young group of players together travelling all the way out there and playing away from family and friends?
All this while the Creekers most likely wont even field a Reserve grade team and will continue to be an undisciplned rabble.
Someone hasn't done their homework on this decision.![]()

Congrat's, your one of the footy dinosaurs that keeps the Mackay league just the way it is!! We can only do things certain ways cause thats the way we have always done it!! We can all see how successful Moranbah and Bakers have been on the field in recent years and of cause there're future is so bright you want to force Andergrove to do it that way aswell?? No disrespect to either club but they have no junoirs so for the league to treat Andergrove the same as either of those clubs is not looking at the big picture!! i'm told the only way Andergrove would get to come home on a permanent basis was when they had both reserve and senior teams, how many years would that take??? Wake up to yourself and look around because your kind are nearly extinct!!! The plans for progress are under way!!!I see in todays newspaper andergrove have pulled the pin on a reserve side. They are weak as piss, they pulled out cause they didn't get there own way. I think the league board had the right idea for them get established in the reserves and then come up into the senior comp. When moranbah wanted to enter a team they had to play as Bakers creek reserves in 2005 for the whole season and play all home games at bakers, no home games in mornabah. They didn't worry just got on with it and played. Andergrove said a factor was having to travel 6 times to mornabah to play home games, its not that big an issue seeing as though whitsunday and moranbah travel every second week. But like all mackay sides they just don't like to travel.
