I went online this morning to purchase my tickets for the march/april games at the MCG and there was a reserved seat charge of $5.50.. was I the only one who mis read the booklet they sent out which lead me to believe that it was free to purchase these tickets online?? The ezyticket part was apparently free but there was a booking charge, which is exactly the same as last year.
Oh well, I got my Anzac Day tickets:thumbsu:

The first tickets I bought this morning were the ANZAC day tickets for obvious reasons. I did not pay a $5.50 fee. The only fee you pay is with ticketmaster if you book online. I used the ezyticket. They send you the tickets by email. There is no complication. I have already received my tickets to all games I reserved.
All Etihad tickets will incur a $5.50 charge by ticketmaster.

It's like this.
Ticketmaster charge a $5.50 transaction online and they wont charge you if you buy at one of their outlets.
Ticketek is free online and they will charge youa transaction fee if youbuy at an outlet.
That's life. :D

It cost $5.50 to reserve a seat in the AFL members at both the MCG or Etihad.

If you book on line you pay no booking fee with Ticketek, but you do pay a booking fee with Ticketmaster.

I'm slighty confussed. I purchased my tickets this morning through Ticketek for Anzac day and paid a $5.50 fee. I purchased the Ezyticket as well.

Does this mean that you can purchase a ticket to the game without a reserved seat for MCG. What would be the difference between this and scanning your card at the gate?

im also confused it says in the booklet if you buy tickets useing the ezyticket option then there free but i used it and still had 2 pay the $5.50 :confused:

For AFL Members to reserve a seat and either Docklands or MCG there is a $5.50 booking fee.

With Ticketek (MCG) there is no transaction fee to book with EzyTicket but there is an additional $2 transaction fee if you book at an outlet.

With Ticketmaster (Docklands) there is no transaction fee to book at an outlet but there is an additional $5.50 transaction fee to use EzyTicket (so $11 all up).

That was my understanding from all the information the AFL sent out.

I got my ANZAC Day tickets this morning for $5.50 each with EzyTicket

Yes, the $5.50 reserved seat fee from last year still stands at both venues. But ticketmaster are now charging an additional $5.50 transaction fee for each online booking (thieves!). Ticketek have no such fee if you book online and print your own tickets.

I understand this now. Thanks for this. Booking online through ticketmaster is a RIP OFF! we pay good money for our AFL memberships, there should only be a fee of around $2-3 to reserve a ticket.
Thanks for the help.

Yeah I was kinda happy with Ticketek. Got great Seats for Geelong vs Hawthorn and the Geelong vs Collingwood games.

My only issue was I couldn't buy the discounted Guest Pass for a home club member. Because Geelong vs Collingwood is a Geelong home game I put in a mates Geelong membership barcode and it said this barcode is not available to buy a ticket in this area. With Ticketmaster last year, when you put in the barcode it comes up as a guest pass - home club member and only cost around $15 instead of $35.

Looks like Ticketek forgot to put this part into there system. Maybe it was too hard........

I thought the Club Member guest pass/upgrade is only (and has only) been available at the ground on the day/night of the game.

Can someone clarify something re AFL membership for me?

I don't know what the figures are but let's say AFL Membership allocated area is 15,000 seats, and the MCG holds 95k. If the 15k allocation is exhausted, but there's only say 65k there - i.e. there are spare seats - can I get into the ground on a "general admission" basis? Or is it once the AFL membership allocation is exhausted you have to buy a seat?
