This is only my first year as an AFL member, but for the second week in a row I haven't been able to reserve a seat at Etihad  I've paid $600 for this membership thats making me buy general public tickets to our own home games. This is a bit of a joke.

Has any one had luck getting AFL members tickets to this weeks game (or ANY games at Etihad?!) ?

If the AFL members area is sold out then it is your fault for not getting in earlier. Hardly the fault of the stadium. There is an AFL area on level 1 but for big games it's worth your while booking in advance. For games that aren't expecting huge crowds you can ask for a seat on level 1 in the members area for no additional charge.

What do you mean you had to buy general public tickets? AFL members ae able to scan in and sit on level 3 without buying another ticket.

I know that. I wasn't blaming Etihad either, it's just stupid how it's set up. The way it works with the MCG is 100x better with walk up seats and reserved seats. You wouldn't really expect games against non Victorian clubs to be huge sellers anyway..

I'm not sitting on L3 either. Eff that. I'd rather buy a child's ticket and scan in on my membership and actually enjoy the game in a good atmosphere.

There's also a weekend about 1 or 2 weeks before round 1 that allows you to reserve seats at any game for the whole season. Thats what I do, so I have a seat at all games for the year.

Before people start having a go at AFL Members and to suggest "getting in early" to get seats at Etihad Stadium, lets put in perspective what the bastard Wayne Jackson did to AFL Members when he allowed 5000 Medallion Club Members direct access into the AFL Members Reserve at the MCG when the AFL signed up for the Dockland Stadium deal.

In order to make Medallion CLub Membership attractive they had to throw in access to ANOTHER stadium (ie the MCG) in order to get people to take on Medallion CLub membership.

Now that AFL Members and those on the AFL Membership waiting list got shafted by that - they get barely any reciprocal rights at Etihad Stadium and what they do get they have to pay for - and they also have to pay to reserve seats in their own membership reserve after having to pay $400 per year membership.

Is it any wonder that the AFL have almost completely "churned" pre-1997 Members out of AFL Membership.

AFL Gold Membership now is no better than Restricted Membership was back in 1997.

Those days you didnt pay any extra to reserve a seat in your own membership area.

And you certainly didnt have to pay an additional $90 to buy a Grand Final ticket.

So be by guest you can have mine - when my MCC Membership comes through in the next 12 months. ;)

How long have you been waiting for? I'm considering getting a couple of members to nominate me and should hopefully be accepted by 2076

I have family & friends that are MCC members so I don't mind the lenghty waiting list. Never had an issue getting guest passes. Also helps that I am an AFL member.

You know, it might actually be a good time for Richmond supporters to sign up for MCC memberships as they might actually get their memberships around the time that the Tigers become half decent again. :p

 I'm not stupid, I know how to buy tickets. I can't get an AFL reserve ticket.

There were no tickets that matched your specific request.
However, you may wish to try one of the following:
  • Reduce the quantity of tickets you are requesting.
  • If you selected a specific seating section, change to "Best Available".
  • If you are still unable to find tickets, we suggest you check back with us regularly. As the date of the event nears, sometimes a limited number of tickets may be released.

Thankyou for actually understanding Agro :thumbsu:

I put Agro Jr down when he was born in 1993 - and the guy who nominated him (I used to work with him - got no idea where he is now) suggested I put myself down as well.

Its not 12 months actually I think its in 2012 - but we have had Restricted Membership since 2005 - and apart from GF and Boxing Day Test its access all areas.

And the AFL and their long line of disingenuos CEO's Jackson and Demetrispew can take their membership and SIUTA.

Because as Andrew Demetrispew said to me once and I quote "if you dont like AFL Membership you dont have to renew - the competition will survive without you."
