According to the AFL Phantom Draft as written By Matt Burgan, Our draft day could look something like this;

#1: Tom Scully
#2: Jack Trengove
#11: Daniel Talia/ Aaron Black/ Jasper McMillan Pittard/ Ben Griffiths/ Lewis Jetta
#18: Max Gawn/ Troy Taylor/ (Unlikley) Luke Ball
#34: Troy Taylor
#50: Liam Patrick/ Brock McCauley
#66: Pass (to gain PSD selection)

PSD: Joel MacDonald

Would you guys be happy with this? Discuss If you wish :D

Not sure we need both Taylor AND Patrick - I think Burgan went a little Jurrah crazy there.

Scully and Trengove is all I want to hear. Bliss.

Jurrah Jurrah Jurrah Jurrah Jurrah Jurrah Jurrah Jurrah Jurrah Jurrah!!!!! we need more Jurrah's!!!

So I guess your pretty happy with the predicted pick 50 then ;)

I would be happy with that result. No mention of Thorpe but I would guess that Jurrah mark II would be the swap.

That would make a good forward line .. 2 x Jurrahs, 1 x Wonna, 1 x Watts, Bates .. hard to match up on ... i feel the veins starting to pump the red and blue around :)

I have been warming to Talia of late as a Key Forward not a backman. He prefers to play that position and i can see him being similar to Hurley in that he is able to play forward.

Gawn at 18 is too high i reckon for a risky pick up. Would rather add Bastinac/ Bartlett or a Key Forward who falls in the hope that Gawn is there at 34.

A Few Interesting players i think are Panos at 54, Fitzpatrick at 48, Christensen at 40, Astbury at 71 and Taylor at 34.

These are all players who have been touted much higher than there phanton draft selections, hopefully we can get a bargin at 34/50

Warming to Talia. Size wise. He is the big KPP we desire. Can he play forward? I dunno but he plays there for his club side apparently and sees himself as a forward.

18. Not a fan of using high picks for ruckman. I would def go for a Griffiths or a another mid in Bastinac or Tapscott.

34. Happy with Troy Taylor. Skill, skill and more skills.

50. Panos at 50 would be nice punt.

I'm stoked with it if this is how it plays out.

I prefer Talia but wouldn't be dissapointed if we got Black instead.

Gawn is most exciting for me, 208cm and 104kg is a freaking beast of a man and he's only 17! It's hard to tell with him being injured all year, but if he has ok skills he has the potential to dominate and give Scully and Trengove first use every time.

This is exactly what I was thinking when I was reading up about him on AFL, He's just a mountain of a man. Would be second tallest behind Sandilands wouldn't he? Then again, how tall is Cox?

Add Justin Bollenhagen to the mix at 50 - see more at pick 76.

I've got a feeling that Port won't go Vardy they have lots of young ruckmen already, and that Geelong will pounce on Bartlett at 17.

Therefore Vardy, Carlisle and Griffiths could all be available at 18.

Like Black more than Talia for some reason.

Talia Black Carlisle are a must at 11.

Gawn and Taylor at 18 is to hight, Gawn could easiliy slip to 34. Griffiths could be around at 18.

Throw a blanket over 20 players for pick 34, the draft is going to be like that between picks 20-40.

Liam Patrick at 50 is there for pure romance and good story only!

If Panos is around at 50 would be a good get. Fitzpatrick at 48, and if we got christensen at 34 would be a good get.

Incorrect, there are very much keen to pick up another ruckman. They have a lack of decent big men, they need a player that can replace Brogan.

I'm for Gawn purely on headline potential.

No matter how you look at it everybody will be glued to the reading out of p18. Ironic that in the year that they've changed format for dramatic purposes, there's no intrigue about picks one and two and heaps around 11-30.

Gawn at 18 may not be a bad idea.

While he develops we could just stand him in the goal square. At 206cm he'll get first hands to anything in the air.

I like the look of this draft.

So this was all smoke and mirrors?

“We’re very happy with the way Matthew Lobbe, Jackson Trengove and Jarrad Redden [are developing]. Even Daniel Stewart has showed he can play in the ruck, so we’ve got four young options there and if we draft another ruckman they might be behind that group already,” Hartley said.

“It’s not a great draft in terms of depth for ruckmen. We’ve looked fairly heavily into that and we do have [early picks] in 8, 9 and 16, it’s just a matter of whether we want to take a punt on another young ruckman.”

He is in a similar boat as Griffiths.

Very highly rated early but got injured so is flying a little under the radar. He was Metro's No. 1 ruckman before he went down. Was talking about him with mates and we all agreed he is/was ahead of Vardy as the No 1 ruckman in the TAC this year.

Griffiths and Gawn could be massive steals, if they get there bodies right.

Ive got a raging hard on for Taylor!:D

If he is still there by 34 there is no one left even remotley as talented as him. Would be a no-brainer, if Taylor is there by 34 Prendergast better pull the damn trigger.

Looks all good up until Gawn..

I think we'll take a slider at 18, and even if there isnt one Burgan has us passing on Tapscott, Stevens, Bastinac, Gysberts, Bartlett and Duncan.

18 is too high for Gawn even if we do need a ruckman.

Fingers still crossed for Vardy at 18 - but otherwise just best available player.

I think Gawn will be a much better ruckman than Vardy. The only reason Vardy is up that high is because he played all year and didn't really miss any games. I would rate him as the 2nd-3rd best ruckman in the draft, Gawn and Craig would be ahead of him. If Gawn had played in the U18 Championships then he would have come out as All Australian ruckman and would probably have been up around the 1st and 2nd round and not seen as a smoky. For me I think that this is a pretty good draft but would rather see Black at 11 but thats just my opinion.

What about going with Griffiths at 11. His size and his powerful and accurate kicking for goal could make him an unstoppable weapon. It could be like going with Buddy Franklin, you know the guy is a risk but he could be the difference between a flag and a few top 4 finishes.
