One possible benefit of reduced rotations is that it would reduce the advantage of having a deep squad, at least over the course of a single match.

Meaning that it would be 18 against 18 over the course of 120 minutes. With a small number of substitutions.

This might give the supposedly weaker teams a better chance of competing, on the day - making for a better competition.

It would test be a sterner test of players's stamina, and would see more conservation of energy through the match.
If that spells the end of flooding and other such, IMO, crap tactics then even better!

Going further...

Go the whole hog and expand the fixture; every club plays every other club twice per season. Once home, once away.
This would lead to a more squad-based game, witth no player able to play every match.

Geelong could thrive in such a setting, using the extra games to selectively give our talented youngsters meaningful roles in the right games, supported by the current guns. Our culture, and our development program would be even bigger assets. It would also mean more games at the Cattery.

And, of course, we don't play those crap tactics - we play the game as it should be f&#$ing played!

That's it.

Maybe I've been in Europe too long, but in my opinion, the current weighted draft distorts the competition and potentially devalues the big prize - if a team gets an easy ride to the finals. It's a blight on the game.

Aplologies for the length...
