1) Naming 6 key forwards is just as bad as naming 0, so there will be maximum limits. Going to a weekly system means they don't apply to list makeup.
2) Policing weekly is going to add too much time to the scoring process, so I'm not going to be doing it.
3) I hate the idea of increasing the chances of teams playing short because of bad luck, but I seem to be on my own on that.

So here it is, based on the suggestions of Roylion and loopy_cam
To minimise the impact of this rule we will go back to 16 teams, so I need confirmations from GeeCat Bluesy eddiespocket before confirming there is no team available for TheBeardAmigos.

Good work Russian looking forward to the off season - I also share your concerns regarding teams playing short surely common sense needs to be applied i.e for most of the year last year Sandilands was injured and my back up rucks Minson & McKay hardly played, so most of the time I used Taberner in the ruck, which was really my only option (Cloke, Gunston, D Talia, Haynes were my other "talls") so perhaps there needs to be some leniency, if it is sensible.

Sorry, to raise another issue, although reducing to 16 teams seems a smart option as it will go some ways to avoiding this situation and also there always seems to be 2 coaches drop off each season.

Just on that, can I suggest a separate draft of players in the 2 squads, based on ladder positions in a "Snake" type system (I finished mid ladder so no real affect on me), to take place before the Off Season Movements, then these players can be used in trading if the coach desires, all players drafted get an average wage (about $250k) for 2 years. Salary Cap and list sizes need to also be assessed, perhaps list size of 45 (2 squads x 40 players over 16 teams = extra 5 players) with extra salary cap of $1.25m (5 x $250k). Just spitballing figures for sake of demonstration.

Should have a system where you can apply to play another player as a GST player if the need arises.

So for example in knobby's situation he would post in the lists thread, 'Apply to use Taberner as a tapper because Sandilands is injured and Minson and McKay are not getting selected.' Then Russian can decide whether you're allowed to use Taberner. If you have chosen a player who would never play ruck it gets denied or if you simply went into the season with not enough cover or cover which was never reasonably going to get a game you are denied.

In the event we stick with 18 teams I'm willing to part ways with my StKilda list to entice a coach to stay on board, coz a rebuild takes a few years of commitment so I'd be happy to take on a crap list if need be.
Now that we're going to 16, do you still want St Kilda or want to take Mozzies/Rottnest?

Ill stick with StKilda, should be easy enough for those teams to bulk up now with 2 teams of players being available

When do we get the AFL teams that we need to be deciding GST's on?

Also, are we calling 'third talls' Goalkickers or Stoppers or is it limited to pure key position players? (For example a Tory Dickson as a goalkicker or a James Gwilt type as a stopper.)

5. A GST player named but that doesn't end up playing that week can only be replaced by another GST player on the bench.

Just on this. If I had named say Callum Sinclair in the forward pocket and Leuenberger in the ruck, and then Leuenberger was a late out. Are we happy for Sinclair to be moved into the ruck and a forward from the bench to replace Leuenberger or would I just get a 0 since I didn't have a tapper on the bench?

Yes. My replacement process will remain just recording the 18 players and replacing those who don't play - the only change will be that if I have to do replacements I have to make sure there are 2G+2S+1T+1 in the final 18.

No. They drop (or climb) back to minimum, which is 130/1 for most players, could be 163/2, 195/3 or 228/4 for ex-Rottnest/Mozzies players.

Ok. Still out of my price range anyway!

It's definitely worth those with salary space saving a pick or two for the PSD.

I hope players like Dixon don't end up unlisted because no-one can afford their salary and hope those with salary space have picks available in the PSD

I'm going to pass on my final pick. The decision for me is do I wait til the PSD or use pick 23

To be eligible for a vetran spot does a player have to have played a continious 5 years at a club or 5 years accumulated for the club ?

I know they have to be 28.

It's not explicitly stated in the rules, but I've always viewed it as 5 consecutive years directly prior to being veteranised. Otherwise it'd be a bit strange I think to be able to trade someone in and be able to veteranise them because they played 5 years for your team 9 years ago. It is also the reason Russian kept the "Time on List" list I believe, which is something I need to get around to doing at some point.

Cheers thought so.
