If there is any silver lining it is that Melbourne are one of the benchmark teams and our girls have a better idea of the standard required

Yep, and lost because we had no answer for the talent gap, not because we dropped our bundle and stopped having a crack.

+20 tackles, +1 tackles inside 50 despite being as good as doubled up for inside 50s (25-47).

Finished the day +1 in centre clearances hilariously enough, thanks to the last quarter.

Beaten by an elite unit; one of the four that, in some combination, are guaranteed to play in the Grand Final each year.

Biggest issue is any lingering injuries to Roberts (played it out so hopefully fine) and Lewis (shouldn’t have been sent back out there, essentially down a player since Q1 with the way she was moving and finally shut down in Q3).

The home stand against GWS (off back to back wins!) and Collingwood is massive.

Bushby went at 33% efficiency and had 12 turnovers, according to the stats. Yikes.
There was a reasonable discussion a few weeks ago about where Western fits into the setup but Bushby for me is clearly the first one who should be pushed out by the next draft class/fully available list.

None of it is for a lack of trying, she kicked a great goal a few weeks ago in one of the big comebacks too, I just really feel she’s not got it in her to contribute reliably at this level and whoever is in that needs to be so involved for it to work.

As I've said a few times this year, this team's still a few drafts away from getting anywhere near the top echelons of the W comp. Need more drafts and a few more years of experience into these players, all the players besides a handful are all 21 and younger. You're not gonna be able to compete most weeks playing with a bunch of youngins.

Now with the draft being truly national we'll get some more talented Victorians and hopefully some free agents or trades to balance the list out age wise a little.

I'm expecting losses tbh, we're dropping like flies

Trying to work out my favourite moment from that half.

It’s a toss up between Kavanagh kicking it the wrong way out of centre clearance, or a kick from the goal square landing back in the goal square and being paid a mark.
Travel 15 meters total, not distance travel at ground level xD that's a new one.
