Clear attempt at trying to get a one up on cricket, i hope it fails, and fails miserably. Just like the one tennis tried.
A complete and utter waste of money that could be used elsewhere, like setting up a national reserves competition which would actually benifit the league a damn sight more than what this would.

Agreed, the AFL honchos have seen the success of 20 over cricket and they are trying to get a slice of the action.

Brazilian curling has got to be the 2017 contender for Oxymoron of the Year.

Generally, I like the idea of this but only as an expansion tool.

In Aus I reckon the comparisons between Test Cricket / T20 & AFL / AFLX maybe not so accurate.

This is more like an indoor cricket version.
That's a bloody good analogy as T/20 is just a shoterned version of the longer form of the game. You still have 11 players per side, not everybody bowls, you still use the same bat, you still play on the same field and wicket as the longer versions, you still need to hit the ball to the boundary for a 4 etc etc.

Indoor cricket whilst still a bat and ball game is significantly different to a game of T/20.

Thanks for that, my wife walked into the room as i scrolled onto this pic and called me a pervert :D:oops:

You should have said you were helping women empower themselves.

Get your hundred fastest non-AFL listed players into a draft for 8 teams.
Name the teams something spicy like Adelaide Kickers or the East Melbourne RaZors and there is what AFLX should be...

Then get them to play in every country that you want to promote AFL, except Australia of course (we don't want that shit here)

I get the whole swedge of promoting it overseas and most countries not having Australian Rules size grounds etc. but do you face the danger of it becoming the accepted form of the game internationally if it takes off down the track?

It will be entertaining. If it becomes a generally accepted form of the game overseas then fine that's what we can do in New York and Chad Wingard can sell 2 million t-shirts in the US. Personally I'm not going to sit there enjoying it (if it's enjoyable) and feel guilty about it.

You need a certain level of skill. Rookies back end players are fine and would spew not given the opportunity. Fat slow and old sanfl players (the quick ones) would not be giving the concept a chance.

Dude you live in Brazil just stick your head out the window.

I know, and I thank God for that; but why should it be either... or?!

I don’t want to start debating or moralising about it but I’m sure our (few) female posters and lurkers would appreciate it. Besides there are plenty of other websites available where you can perve on butts.

The free kick from 40m for deliberate rushed behinds is a rule that should be used in the home-and-away season. Having a free kick from dead in front in the goalsquare from something that is often based on the individual umpires interpretation is a bit harsh. Hopefully the JLT will also trial a change in 50-metre penalties. I always thought that when someone is to take a shot from just out of range then a minor infringement on the mark should not give them an unmissable goal, that they should instead have a shot at goal from 40m dead in front.
