Put yourself in Jackson's shoes for a second Jeremias. It is very hard to be on a rookie list, you work your guts out for next to no pay compared to blokes on the regular list. You are rewarded with promotion for the final game of the season, play ok, pick up 12-15 poss IIRC, run your ar$e off and show that the faith they paid in promoting you was jsutified....then

the next year you are hung out to dry on the rookie list again consigned to the Ants without the motivation for potential promotion to the 1's (barring a LTI), while they keep a guy on the senior list who has a chrnoic back injury and ??? over his work ethic and attitude?

What sort of message is that sending to the kids? Work hard and you will stagnate where you are meanwhile we will reward mediocrity?

That would be the worst decision in a long time IMO and we have made some stinkers....no wonder we have a bad track record developing the kids

So, because we feel bad and sorry for him, we should promote him?

Jackson should be a nominated rookie. This means he stays on the rookie list, but is still available for selection with the Blues week in week out. We promise him, like the Bombers did witb Lovett-Murray, and the Pies with O'Brien, that we will elevate him at the end of next year.

Having said all of that, I just realised that we could have 3 elevations next year . Maybe we will need to elevate someone, as Aisake, Flint and Jacskon will all need to be elevated. Could we see someone like Saddington or Teague delisted this year?

Good post Gilly :thumbsu: Agree 110%

Jackon has done enough to warrant a promotion from the rookie list. He had a good year this year @ the Ants and deserves a spot on the list ahead of Davies who, to date, has really shown nothing in the X? years he has been at the club.

He had one good game against the Pies a few years back (and IIRC, that day Deluca also had a good game).... Is there a trend developing? :p ;)

We are building a list for the future and IMO Davies should not be considered a future player of the CFC!

No, we should promote him because he is a good player and has far more chance of being in our best 22 than Davies ever will. IMHO, Carlton still have one more player to delist and that is Davies, although I'm a bit concerned that they have not done it yet. Does anyone know if he is contracted for next year?

Nah, i'd promote him now. Like I said, he's just a better prospect than Davies.

Flint certainly looks promising, but i'm still not sold on Aisake. Teague and Saddington are contracted for 2007, so they won't be going anywhere unfortunately.

Personally, I want to steer clear of dictating in advance how many picks we are taking in the draft. I would much rather move on to marketing and memberships.

I think that's pretty much been covered on here now anyway. Only other delisting possible will be Davies, but that is 50/50 at the minute

Incorrect.

Everyone else is delistable, but we will need to pay those contracts out.

So, Saddington, Deluca, Bryan, Teague are still able to be delisted, but it is highly doubtful that it will actually happen.

Of course these boys can be delisted, they just wont be becuase they have a contract for next year.

I think memberships are a good topic for our next discussion. What do you guys think?

Why can't we keep using this one?

I agree with Jeremias. We should create a new thread for each topic we discuss.

I am happy to discuss Membership (my area of expertise) :D :thumbsu:
