If they refuse to even negotiate and intend to send him to the PSD, I think the AFL will step in. It's all good to have a laugh at the Blues and use them as a bit of leverage but no one deserves to be sent there against their will. The AFL are aware of this and what became of Nick Stevens. A good young kid like Aish doesn't deserve such humiliation, despite what Lethal and his supporters think.

I've changed my stance a little and now if we ended up having to pay a little over in Oxley and two 2nd rounders in order for Brisbane to save face and make them willing to deal so be it.

Oxley could probably walk to them in the PSD for nothing anyway if he chose to be a dick. They might throw back a 3rd rounder our way.

Rather be professional and get our man than engage in a pissing contest.

At the end of the day I see trading away a fringe player and potentially two picks in the 20's for a surer bet in Aish akin to Hine having an educated opinion on the quality of Pendlebury back in his draft year and using pick 5.

If Pendlebury had of been a bust we would all be thinking if only we had of taken so and so with that selection right now.

He wasn't and I'm confident in 5 years time no one will be worrying what we had to give up for James Aish in 2015.

Not sure why Aisho is rated so high - has he really shown more than Oxley. Ox is good on the intercept mark and can kick a ball. Surely Aish is pumped up on the back of being an early draft pick.

Aish will thrive at a new club i think. Brisbane treated him like sh*t. Kid has a lot of potential, more than Oxley i think

Brisbane board says come up with something good or miss out, I still can't see how we miss out your loosing a player and gaining 0, nothing, nada...we don't loose anything

In what sense is that more professional then using those 2 draft picks plus Oxley on someone else. We should still offer something reasonable but if the asking price is too high, too bad for Brisbane . And luckily, with their stance, Brisbane has given us an opportunity to back out of trading negotiations. And we should. And don't look back.

The thing that gets to me is that people talk about these trades as some form of science or maths. A player who was picked at 7 is worth a pick 19 but not a pick 25... and similar types of "calculations". However, what are players like Aish and Freeman really worth? We're probably going to find that out in the coming years and all the current "calculations" are just guesses. I can make argument for and against Aish being traded for a high draft pick and a low draft pick. The same is true for Freeman.

The Beams trade is a good example. Who knew that Crisp would be such a success? Who knew if we would pick someone good at pick 5. There has been a lot of players in the top ten picks who have failed. The washup could have been a disaster for Collingwood if Crisp and degoey were duds.

In the end, either Collingwood or Brisbane will win out of the Aish trade and it will probably not depend on whether a pick 19 is in the bargain or a pick 25. It will depend more on whether the kid can actually play...

The lack of development in the Bears young players is a real worry for the AFL and indeed the players,

They show enough natural talent but then they don't reach that next level,

It's ok though, TheBrownFlog says it just looks that way because we don't watch enough tele...

That is way to much to pay what makes Aish worth that much? Collingwood should not be bullied if we get him great if not we haven't lost anything

Yes I can well imagine the UN will step in over that basic violation of human rights.
The UN?
The disunited nations? They bigger mess than just about anybody, except FIFA now they are pristine ;)

So we offer two 2nd round picks and Brisbane knocks it back asking for Oxley as well.

We don't oblige and Oxley ends up walking to the PSD draft.

So we keep our 2nd round picks but miss on Aish and lose Oxley anyway.

Think I'd prefer to just get the deal done in that circumstance.

I'm sure our starting offer anyway will either be Oxley and our earliest 2nd rounder or two 2nd rd picks.

In an ideal world that should be enough but who knows.

Next year we go after Jaeger. GC is not doing too well either with player retention. They might pull the same stunt.
Now , how would you like this trade for Aish to go?

If Oxley goes to Brisbane I bet it would be because the club asked him to not the other way around. No way he walks to PSD. Just because he is from QLD doesn't mean he is insane and wants to play for Brisbane. He's a collingwood man.

And this is who you got from the pick from trading Elliot Yeo. Look what you can get from trading away someone who didn't want to be there. Back your coaching and development areas to find you two more Lewis Taylor's with the two 2nd rounders we give you.

Leigh Matthews is a very pragmatic man. This stance is purely aimed at strengthening Brisbanes trade options. Balme is also a very pragmatic man and I have no doubt that Collingwood will call the bluff. Expect this to go into the second week but I believe a fair trade will be done in the end.

I reckon leigh would be on his own I reckon the list managers would want something for him
