No doubt he's old school and not in touch or accepting of generation entitlement.

I agree, but it's more about changing the attitude and values of youth than just the Brisbane FC. Sure, they've worn the brunt of many disgruntled players leaving but there are plenty of other youngsters that have thrown a tanty and wanted to go home.

I think Leigh looks at it in terms of a bigger picture in setting a standard by making and example to young footballers coming through the draft. I'm sure Brisbane have issues behind the scenes but as do a lot of clubs.

Once upon a time being drafted was a privilege with most footballers giving everything to their club and not sitting there just wondering how long it is until they can return home. I think there should be some regulation to protect clubs from this happening, like a ROSO that commensurate with the players drafted position.
It all just looks like the hallmarks of a poorly run club. If it wasn't for the pisstakes we have been afforded, it would just be sad. Brisbane need to stop looking at how they can force players to stay and work out why players wan't to leave. Even from a remote outsider's perspective you can see the sloppy amateur hour decisions going on, let alone what is actually happening behind the scenes.

Case in point: Tom Rockliff
Good player and his loyalty to the club can't be questioned. But seriously, is there not one person up there who can teach him how act like the captain and spokesperson for the club? Players are considering leaving the club, so what does he do? Give them grief on social media and twitter no less! His team wins a game in spectacular fashion, so what does he do? Makes a beeline to Harvey after the game is done to gloat and carry on. Barrett reports a rift between Rockliff and teammates, so what does he do? Again uses twitter -not to clear things up- but to start a fight with Barrett! Even on the The Chosen Few all the other captains talk about what football means to them and the pressures of being a leader, so what does he do? He talks about some old skank turning up to his house with a six pack!

Even the players they bring in - whilst they might be talented- are not known to be good clubmen and aren't exactly highly respected. At the same time they push out Patful and Adcock! This is what is seen from an outsiders perspective, let alone what a new draftee experiences. Brisbane need to fix there problems from the top down before trying to shackle players who have zero respect for the organisation. Surely Brisbane fans can see this.

That's pretty much what they said. It may be all just positioning to get a first round pick from us but it may well be that, as Swan said, Aish is the unlucky example that they feel they have to make.

Swan would have been at Collingwood when Port did it to Stevens and they won the flag the following year.

It was unfortunate those events coincided. They were really unrelated but allowed PA to grandstand a little and say we took a strong stand, made our point and then won a flag

Truth is it was a stupid decision not to get something for Stevens, the only possible benefit was keeping him away from us as we had been a rival in 2003. This evaporated when we finished 13th. Stevens coming to us would have benefited them by getting some value into the club. Truth is their resolve was very short lived because Josh Carr walked the next season in 2004 and suddenly they believed trading was back on. Picked up pick 11, 27 and 45. The desired effect of showing the rest of the list you couldn't just request a trade and expect to get where you wanted didn't happen

It's all just foreplay, Collingwood will rub up Brisbane the right way over some informal chats, Derek doing the smooth talking with Balmey ready should things get out of hand, until gradually Brisbane bend over like they always do and take a 2nd rounder + Seedsman. Like a girl, they just need some convincing.

I agree that Port were fortunate but the reality letting Stevens go didn't hurt them. They won the flag and we drafted Morrison and Hall with the picks they knocked back.

Re the Carr situation, they believed they got a fairer offer. Their issue was never in trading players that wanted out it was in being shafted in their eyes. The reality is they wanted too much (Didak and our first pick). They could have had Scotland and our first pick as it transpired (we should have kept him) but we traded him for the pick we used on Hall from memory.

Port might argue they got a better deal for Carr than had they not made their stand. Who knows if that is the case though.

Time to look at where we can secure Aisho in the National Draft. I just don't think he'd go in the top 11 picks. After that teams may be a little more inclined to take a gamble on a player that doesn't want to be there.

At a minimum, we'd need to obtain Gold Coasts pick 19. I think carlton are desperate enough to take him with pick 20. If we can secure either NM & Swans 1st rounder, I'd be extremely confident he'd get to us in the National Draft.

We should aim to snare Sydney's pick 14 for 2 x 2nd rounders. The points value secures Mills with a pick 5 bid. Pick 14 doesn't. It falls 340 points short and pushes their 2nd round pick 33 back to 54 to secure Mills

1. Carlton
2. Brisbane Lions
3. Gold Coast
4. Essendon
5. St Kilda
6. Melbourne
7. Collingwood
8. Greater Western Sydney
9. Geelong
10. Port Adelaide
11. Western Bulldogs

12. Richmond
13. Adelaide
14. Sydney Swans - Will be needed for Mills
15. North Melbourne
16. Fremantle - Cam McCarthy or Harley Bennell (Gold Coast & GWS unlikely to select Aisho and this pick goes on academy kids for GWS)
17. West Coast
- Lewis Jetta or Jack Redden (Swans will get used on Mills. Will Brisbane take him with this pick/will that get as good a pick for Redden)
18. Hawthorn

END OF ROUND ONE
19. Gold Coast

ROUND TWO
20. Carlton
21. Brisbane Lions
22. Gold Coast
23. Essendon
24. St Kilda
25. Melbourne
26. Collingwood

Aah hindsight. If we had used the Morrison pick David Mundy, Port would still be anguishing over the Stevens decision.

Your club is chasing Oxley, so it would seem like they do feel like they need him.

Rumours are they might be trying to get Ox for free with pick 2 in PSD. Forcing Aish in there and into Carlton's hands at pick 1 would allow Ox a clear path to them and screw us in the meantime.

Hopefully a number of us heard Blame on SEN this morning, shame on the AFL site to use that sort of heading.
And you wonder why people don't trust the media any more?

Is anyone in the Media Pro-Collingwood?

Seedsman to Suns for 22, on trade with our 26 to Brisbane for Aish

I would give a 2nd and 3rd **** Brisbane they are not getting market rate he wants to leave and is coming of an average year

I have no doubt they would argue that but they want to vindicate their decision. I don't think it helped them get a better price. They didn't have the whip hand with Stevens so needed to accept they would get a little unders. Trading 101.

It didn't hurt them greatly in the end but the way it was related to their flag by some at the time was just a bit of PA propaganda.

Strategy
We have to give them something they can sell, after making those dumb arse comments
i.e. "it was such a good deal we couldn't pass it up"
In addition we come out of it as being 'Fair and Reasonable'
Strategy

Michael Gleeson of the Age is a big Collingwood supporter. Michael Dais who wrote for The Australian as their head footy writer for years was also staunch Collingwood
