SOS said after picking up Fasolo that the three-year deal info was incorrect but did not elaborate any further.

And frankly, the AFL changing rules on the run has a pretty high likelihood.
The AFL literally had no reason to change the rules for compensation, especially in our favour, which is very un-AFL like. Can you please direct me to where SOS said the 3 year deal was incorrect?

Here ya go:

At the 01:22 mark. As I said, he doesn't provide a number beyond saying the 3-year deal isn't correct.
Cheers. I maintain that there’s no base compensation for Free Agents. Plenty have walked with their clubs receiving nothing. If Fas is indeed on a 1 year deal then the money he’s on must be significant enough for compo to be awarded. If a rule change that had such significance was implemented, the AFL wouldn’t be able to keep it quiet.

Reading any article on the AFL FA compensation scheme, you are indeed correct.
There is no base compensation because the AFL determine the compo on a deal by deal basis. In other words, “rules on the run”. Which the AFL are considered the world experts.

My two cents on the contract situation is that for Fas’ sake I hope it isn’t one year! Fortunately for him I seriously doubt it is and SOS’ word is about as believable as Gubby Allen.

On the incident. This is a mid October footy trip thing not a 3 weeks from intraclubs issue. The lack of professionalism is staggering, but not unexpected from a Carlton footballer 😂

Not sure he was that great of a contributor. Flashy at best, inconsistent in everything other than injuries which were more likely due to his own lack of effort and this is another example of Fassy boy aka the prince of Perth not being disciplined enough even when he has much to prove at a new club. One of them now.

Thought he was a very good contributor in 2012 season and 2015-17 he was good in this period as well. Bit rough on your assessment of Fas in his actual contribution to the footy club.

Each entitled to their own feelings and opinions of players, and I respect yours. Mine is based on frustration. Fas had some great highlights, and certainly contributed at times with some solid games, but IMO has let himself down, and in turn us as supporters of the club through his lack of effort and committment. Whispers that the Fas hasnt exactly made many besties at the blues since arriving and is seen as being all about the Fas, lacks effort and likes to party more than most.

Fasolo hs the ability to be in our best 22 but his body has not enabkled that to be the case more recently. His defensive deficiencies are certainly real but overstated in significance IMO. At his best he was very good for us but we didn't see it often enough. I would have been happy to have kept him but I don't think we'll miss not having now he's gone - subject to a few injuries to forwards. I wish him luck even though he's at Carlton. This latest injury just seems like another episode in his bad luck, bad choice soap opera.

Yes he could of been a candidate for best 22.

But.

In all his time with us, he was too hit or miss. Usually more miss.
He just lacked the ongoing consistent high level play, and that cost him in my view.
Never saw him as a lock on best 22.
To compare him to Jamie Elliott as an example, night and day. Elliott just so much better if healthy.

I am not that surprised. Just wondering how his mental health will go when the Blues supporters really go feral on him. Carlton is probably not the best club to be at for someone like him. At Collingwood he was more or less protected from that nasty stuff.

I wanted him traded for many years, a very lazy player
He wasn’t the hardest worker, and I believe the club considered trading him a few years ago. In the end he played 100 games and was well liked by his team mates.
Not too much to be disappointed with.

The ability to be best 22? Really? On ability all of JT, Elliott, WHE, Stephenson, JDG, Varcoe, Wells and Daicos ahead of him as ground level forwards and all bar Daicos ahead on production. His VFL form was mediocre at best last year given what he’s capable of. It was a wise decision to switch clubs because we’d well and truly moved past him by the end of 2018.

Alex was a capable player with dashs of spasmodic brilliance.
Unfortunately for him, his brilliant moments were too far between.
That’s just him. Capable player.
Maybe he’ll get a nice go at Carlton, wish him well.

Alex played for us 101 games for 133 goals.
About 13 possessions a game on average.
About 2.5 tackles a game.

Played in 2011 grand final as our substitute.

Best game likely v Richmond with his 6 goals.
“Is it Grundy, Grundy, yes... it is Grundy.”

That was him winning a game for us.

Father son eligible for us too.

On peformances perhaps. On ability no. A combination of injuries and probably mental issues, with the benefit of hindsight, have prevented his ability from translating into performances. Obviously the defensive aspect is a detraction from his ability as well but when he was in form he was easily best 22 because his attacking impact more than made up for his lack of defensive pressure.

I saw Bucks having breakfast with Fas on Saturday morning at my local cafe. Any guesses as to the topics of conversation?... I know despite the on-field issues he is still very much a favourite with coaches/players and I'd hazard a guess that Bucks was simply giving a gently whack to make sure he gets his head right and makes the most of his opportunities.

Like most here, sorry to see him go, wish him the best for the rest of his career and will happily boo him when they play us. Just don't want to see him stuff up his first year at his new club.

I went to training on a Thursday morning back in August, well after the news broke that Fasolo would likely be going to Carlton at season's end. Training wound up, and Bucks and Fasolo looked to be having a very deep one-on-one in the centre of the ground for what seemed to last about twenty minutes.

I reckon he's father-figure of sorts to many players that have come through the club.
