Moved to umm may so hopefully teaser/trailer before the end of the year (seeing it before rogue one would be cool)

Given Alien is one of my favourite films I feel anxious and excited about this , hopefully much better than Prometheus and not another disappointing alien fillm...
If only they had left it at Alien and Aliens but here we are..fingers crossed ol rids pulls it off...
If nothing else at least it has a way cool poster..

Any one else excited about this ?

Alien was definitely the best.

Aliens
had a completely different tone which annoyed me.

Alien 3 was better.

Alien: Resurrection was not great.

But it's been a long time since I saw them and I didn't watch any of them in order (it was pre-torrent days). Haven't watched Prometheus so that's also on the to-do list.

Ridley can't be relied upon at this point in his career, and the continual succumbing to xeno pressure doesn't bode well (unless its just exaggerated out of proportion to story).

That poster (cheekily vague and low on promises, but dull compared to Prometheus teaser poster and the fact that shadow green alien heads isn't new for the series) probably pitch the series in the direction of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, but in contrast to that series this would effectively still be new terrain with Prometheus interest.

All down to the script. We know Ridley does his thing, and you could tell in Prometheus that he was engaged. For what it's worth, I also was a fan of The Counselor. But Exodus Gods and Kings, despite the interesting realist angle, was fairly pathetic.

AVP1 and Prometheus were my anxiously excited anticipations, but I think that desire to see new Alien films on the big screen has exhausted somewhat. I adore Alien, Aliens and Alien 3 (any cuts), and Resurrection and Prometheus have a lot going for them. AVP1 had a fun concept and was adequate PWSAnderson. AVP2 Requiem was the only real blight, a ridiculously unlit and rather soapy trash fest.

Whatever it is, you can bet your life it will be better than the "my Aliens fanboy stage" that Blomkamp may be cooking up. I just hope its respectably decent and worth at least a few viewings, as well as not being strictly an Alien film. Anything more is bonus. The cast looks promising.

Apparently this film was written by the guys who wrote Transcendence and Green Lantern.

This sounds like a tragedy in the making.

Surely that would disqualify you from ever writing a film script again and confine you as a jobbing script writer for Bold and the Beautiful

Didn't mind Resurrection.

Why does everyone hate Prometheus so much? Thought it was ok and could link up into the alien world.

I didn't hate it. There were some good moments but overall it was very disappointing. You can excuse that the plot was built round stupidity. There's a trillion dollar mission to a distant planet to investigate the origins of human life on a distant planet and they send a bunch of idiots. Once on the planet the idiots start taking off their helmets, contaminating samples and allowing infected humans back onto the ship. This is all standard Aliens fare. But not much about the rest of the plot makes any sense.

Haven't seen it for a long time but the bit where those 2 guys are playing the snake creature thingy like it's a cute little puppy was ridiculous. Also the captain convincing his crew to just commit suicide in a few seconds. Shame because there was some neat ideas, the film looks awesome and the android is great but so much dumb shit ruins it.

Doesn't look great to be honest. More of the same - ship investigates some strange beacon/planet/whatever, crew discovers eggs/goo/whatever, xenos ensue and run rampant. Would prefer if they kept the engineer focus from Prometheus, as poor as that movie was.

Disagree, would have loved to have seen what Blomkamp would have done in that universe. Yeah his last few have been poor but the guy just about gets a lifetime pass for District 9. Doesn't look like it will ever happen now.

Had some great ideas and it looked the shit, but man what a mess of a movie re: plot, logic and coherence. Was hoping for a great, proper prequel to Alien - why it wasn't set on LV-426 I'll never know (that had to have been the original plan). Probably so they could do this, pump out another 3 or 4 more movies before connecting things up.
